Mid-Pacific and Waianae moved up in a big way this week in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser softball Top 10.

The Owls (5-1 ILH) jumped three spots to No. 4 and the Seariders (4-1 OIA West) climbed the same amount of slots to No. 5.

A surprise team so far this season, Waianae knocked off then-No. 5 Mililani 4-0 on Tuesday.

Campbell (5-0 OIA West) and Maryknoll (5-1 ILH) stayed put at Nos. 1 and 2. The Sabers were fortunate to rally back from a 6-1 deficit to beat No. 10 Leilehua 7-6 on Saturday and widened their lead over the Spartans for first place by 16 votes.

When teams start trending up, others go in the opposite direction. ‘Iolani (4-2 ILH) fell three pegs to No. 6, and Mililani (3-2 OIA West) dropped three places to No. 8.

Two other teams in the Top 10 only moved one place — Roosevelt (5-0 OIA East) rose to No. 3 and Punahou (4-2 ILH) went down one to No. 7.

Leilehua (2-3 OIA West) stayed at No. 10, and St. Francis (4-2 ILH Division II) re-entered at No. 9 after being out for one week.

The Saints went 1-1 last week, falling to then-No. 3 ‘Iolani 7-4 on Thursday before defeating then-No. 9 Kamehameha 8-5 on Saturday.

For the second week in a row, no Neighbor Islands teams are in the Top 10. Earlier in the season, Lahainaluna was in there. The Lunas (5-1 MIL), however, fell from the unbeaten ranks in an 11-1 loss to Baldwin (4-2) on Saturday.

Kamehameha-Hawaii (7-0 BIIF D-II), which received three votes, is proving to be a force on the Big Island along with Kohala (7-1 D-II) and Waiakea (5-1 D-I).

Kapaa leads the KIF standings at 3-0.

In voting by media and coaches, teams are awarded 10 points for a first-place vote, nine points for second, eight for third, etc.
