This is the first of many stacked girls semifinals, with defending state champion Saribay assured of her third medal after earning her 10th state win on Wednesday. She can expect a rub from Mangrobang, who didn’t compete last year but showed her skills with a sixth-place finish, behind Saribay’s fifth, two years ago. Mahoe is new to 107 but has nearly as much state experience as anyone, going 11-6 in her career and reaching the state final last year. Mahoe is locked in for her fourth medal for Kapolei and faces a state neophyte in Moniz who can’t be discounted as the ILH champion and a girl who will be fighting for team points.
