Fifty players are in the running for the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award.
The watch list, announced Thursday, includes 14 players with Hawaii ties.
The award is presented annually to the most outstanding Polynesian college football player that epitomizes great ability and integrity.
Former winners of the award include quarterback Marcus Mariota (Saint Louis) in 2014 and defensive lineman Hercules Mata’afa in 2017.
Players with Hawaii ties selected to the watch list are: Utah DL Bradlee Anae (Kahuku), LSU defensive end Breiden Fehoko (Farrington), Notre Dame defensive back Alohi Gilman (Kahuku), USC linebacker Jordan Iosefa (Saint Louis), San Diego State linebacker Ronley Lakalaka, USC running back Vavae Malepeai, Hawaii linebacker Solomon Matautia (Campbell), Fresno State offensive lineman Netane Muti (Leilehua), California receiver Kanawai Noa (Punahou), Ole Miss quarterback Jordan Ta’amu (Pearl City), Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Saint Louis), Oregon State defensive lineman Kalani Vakameilalo (Kapolei) and Hawaii linebacker Jahlani Tavai and receiver John Ursua.
Five finalists will be revealed on Dec. 5 and the winner will be announced on Dec. 14 and presented with the award during the week of the 2019 Polynesian Bowl.
