By Hawaii Prep World on August 16, 2009

By Paul Honda The third time was the charm for Jarrett Arakawa and ‘Iolani’s potent offense. Stifled by Kaiser’s defense for the first two series, Arakawa threw the first of his four touchdown passes — all before halftime — as the Raiders scored 30 second-quarter points en route to a 30-7 win over Kaiser at Aloha Stadium in the Father Bray Classic. Three of the scoring plays went to Kevin Barayuga, who finished with eight receptions for 102 yards. Arakawa […]

No. 5 Farrington 20, Campbell 14

By Hawaii Prep World on August 15, 2009

Govs open with win Fifth-ranked Farrington opened its season with a 20-14 victory at Campbell. The Governors pressured Campbell quarterback Christian Carlos all night, sacking him three times in the first half and preventing the Sabers’ potent run-and-shoot attack from getting off the ground for most of the evening. Farrington’s West Coast offense chewed up the clock and prevented the Sabers from getting into an offensive flow. And aside from a first-half interception, the Govs didn’t turn over the ball. […]

By Hawaii Prep World on August 15, 2009

A lot of the hype surrounding second-ranked Leilehua focuses on quarterback Andrew Manley, and rightfully so. But the real heroes in the Mules’ season opener against Radford were the 11 guys on the other side of the ball. Zach Coffin scooped up a fumble on one of Leilehua’s four sacks and returned it for a touchdown to help the Mules hold off Radford 23-20 in the Spirit of Freedom Bowl last night at Hugh Yoshida Stadium. Rams running back Phil […]
