Kaiser linebacker Fitou Fisiiahi told the Star-Advertiser’s Paul Honda on Wednesday night that he has committed to play football at Oregon State next season.

“One hundred percent,” he said. “I’m not going to change my mind. They came here to see me. They offered me first.”

Fisiiahi was considered a soft commit to the University of Hawaii, but was open with the coaching staff about exploring other options.

He also had offers from Nevada, Utah and Washington State and was expected to visit USC in the fall.

The 6-foot, 235-pound senior has doubled as a running back for the Cougars this season and is third in the OIA White with 167 rushing yards and second with an average of 83.5 yards per game.

He said he hasn’t been to the OSU campus in Corvallis but is relieved to have already made his decision, even though other schools will surely still come calling.

“I’m just trying to work on a (Division II) state championship for Kaiser,” he said.
