The entries list for this week’s Island Movers/HHSAA Track and Field Championships has been released.
Trials begin on Friday at War Memorial Stadium on Maui and finals are Saturday. Two events — boys high jump and girls pole vault — will have their finals on Friday. Both of those events could heavily factor into team scoring for state titles.
Baldwin and Kamehameha have the top three entries in the high jump. Baldwin’s Anthony Kahoohanohano-Davis and Kamehameha’s Kayson Smith-Bejgrowicz have cleared 6 feet, 6 inches this season. Peter Hanohano-Hashimoto of Kamehameha is seeded third after making 6-2 this year. Kamehameha and Baldwin each have five number one seeds entering the 16-event meet. Kamehameha is the defending state champion and Baldwin won state team titles in 2012 and 2013.
In the girls pole vault, Kaiser has two of the top six entries in Celine Lum (first, 12-1) and Tommi Hintnaus (sixth, 10-6). The Cougars are the top seed in four events.
