HPA’s Taylor wins 3 events

State hurdling champion Emma Taylor won three events at Saturday’s BIIF track and field meet at Konawaena.

Taylor won the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.15 seconds and 300 hurdles in 46.07. Taylor also won the 100 dash with a time of 12.90, the only girl to finish under 13 seconds.

Kamehameha-Hawaii’s Saydee Aganus also won three events. She finished the 200 in 26.28 and had marks of 17-4.50 in the long jump and 21-1.75 in the triple jump.


Kau‘i Taylor, the state high jump champion from HPA, cleared 5 feet to win her event.

Hilo topped the girls team standings with 124 points and Hawaii Prep was second with 121. Hilo racked up 56 points by taking the top four spots in the discus and shot put. Kaycee Nathaniel won the shot put (37-8.25) and Molini Vaka won the discus (104-5).


Konawaena topped the boys team standings with 113 points. The Wildcats won the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. Austin Aukai was a double winner in the long jump (19-9) and triple jump (39-0.75) and Lawrence Barrett won the 800 (2:05.13) and 1,500 (4:30.03).


Kamehameha-Hawaii’s Tre Evans-Dumaran was a triple winner, claiming the 100 in 11.33, 110 hurdles in 15.16 and 300 hurdles in 43.52. Keaau’s Damion Scandrick won the 200 (23.40) and 400 (53.26).
