Farrington is best in the East

By Billy Hull on October 4, 2013

Written off by many after an 0-2 start, the Farrington Governors ran the table in the OIA Red East, punctuated by a 21-7 win over Kahuku on Thursday night at Aloha Stadium. The Governors defense stepped up in the winner-take-all game, holding Kahuku to just one first down over the first 35 minutes. Top Players: RBs (9/12)

By Paul Honda on September 12, 2013

He had a monster 30-153 game against Helix, a CIF powerhouse. He didn’t start when the season began, but it’s clear that he’s capable of […]

Kahuku’s Liua good for a highlight or two

By Jerry Campany on August 24, 2013

Of all of the plays in third-ranked Kahuku’s offensive arsenal, the simplest might be the most effective. The two-time defending champions usually can be counted on to run the ball, and run it a lot. In Friday’s win over Kaimuki, they showed off a variety of option pitches to both sides, off-tackle plays and traps. Every one of them went to talented tailback Soli Afalava, who toted the ball 18 times for 120 yards, including second-half runs of 30 and […]

By Paul Honda on October 3, 2012

It’s been nearly two weeks since the last installation of Top Players. It’s been an intriguing season with many ups and downs, adjustments from week to week, play to play. More and more, the best players are proving that their plays contribute to success. But there are many players who are among the best even if their teams are not having great success. As always, your input is welcome. The more eyes, the better. Update, Thursday: Adds Kala Ikeda, Konawaena, […]
