Mililani girls drop Pearl City in soccer

The Mililani girls soccer team gave up its first goal of the season on Wednesday night, but still managed to run their record to an OIA-best 4-0.

The Trojans got goals from Tehani Furuta, Chaylyn Navares and Tayzha Furuta to beat defending state champion Pearl City 3-1.

The match was moved up due to Mililani’s Winter Ball.

The Trojans beat the Chargers 2-1 in last year’s OIA championship but Pearl City roared back to take states when Mililani was ousted by Baldwin in the semifinals.

Randi Fontes scored the lone goal for Pearl City on Wednesday night, the first goal allowed by Mililani this year.

Mililani is in command in the OIA West with its 4-0 record, a half game ahead of Aiea (3-0) and Kapolei (3-0). Waipahu and Pearl City are both 2-1.

The Trojans will host Kapolei on Tuesday.

Pearl City’s goal leaves Castle as the last OIA team to not be scored upon this year. The Knights (3-0) shut out Roosevelt and Kalani and were handed a win via forfeit over Kaimuki.

Moanalua (2-0-1), Kaiser (2-0) and Kahuku (2-0) are right behind Castle in the early going.
