LIVE BLOG: Saint Louis 46, Kamehameha 38

One of the marquee games of the season goes down tonight at Aloha Stadium as No. 4 Kamehameha plays No. 8 Saint Louis in a monster ILH Division I game.

Can the Crusaders turn their season around with a big win or can the Warriors set up a showdown with No. 1 Punahou on Oct. 10?

Kickoff is set for approximately 7:55 p.m.

Kamehameha senior Dylan Kane, who committed to Oregon, is starting at defensive back for the first time this season after missing three games with an arm injury.

Crusaders receive the opening kickoff and march 80 yards in six plays. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa runs twice for 42 yards and finishes it off hitting Allan Cui on a 28-yard TD pass. Just like that, 6-0 Crusaders.

Jordan Bayudan answers with an 82-yard touchdown run on Kamehameha’s third offensive play from scrimmage. Extra point is blocked and we’re tied 6-6.

Saint Louis gets it back and goes 80 yards in six plays again. A face-mask penalty helped out as did a 20-yard run by Tagovailoa to set up Jahred Silofau‘s 3-yard TD run. Saint Louis 13, Kamehameha 6, 7:48, Q1.

Kamehameha with a third-and-2. It fakes the sweep to Kane and hands off to Bayudan for 3 yards and a first down. Third-and-10 and Sua-Godinet scrambles for 7 but is hit late. Personal foul on John Kea gives Kamehameha 15 and a first. Big 25-yard completion from Sua-Godinet to Alika Kahaulelio. And now a 21-yard touchdown pass from Sua-Godinet to Kumoku Noa. Kick is good. 13-13, 4:57, Q1.

Jonathon Manolo with two big runs for Saint Louis and now it gets a little chippy as a couple of helmets come flying off. Referee’s are talking it over. Offsetting 15-yard penalties are called. Big pass play to Jimmy Nunuha and Kane is lit up on a block by Cui. Cui is called for targeting and is ejected. Saint Louis marches on and Tagovailoa to Riccardo Sallas II for an 11-yard TD. Saint Louis 20, Kamehameha 13, 2:57, Q1.

We’re now at 482 total yards with 1:02 left in the first quarter. Kamehameha goes 80 yards in seven plays as a 34-yard pass from Sua-Godinet to Kahaulelio sets up a 12-yard TD run by Sua-Godinet. We’re tied 20-20 with 1:02 left in the first quarter. Six touchdowns already.

Somehow the first quarter ends with a big defensive play as Austin Borengasser sacks Tagovailoa to forced a third-and-10. 509 total yards of offense in the quarter between the two teams.

Tagovailoa runs for 6 yards and Saint Louis has a fourth-and-4 at the Kamehameha 47. Tagovailoa runs for 12 and a first down. He has 176 passing yards and 105 rushing yards…..with 11:06 remaining in the second quarter…..against Kamehameha. Timeout Warriors.

Kamehameha gets the first stop of the game as Tagovailoa throws three incompletions around a 1-yard run. Saint Louis went for it on fourth-and-27 from the 31 and didn’t get it. Kamehameha takes over.

Flea-flicker on the first play goes for 44 yards from Sua-Godinet to Kahaulelio. Second touchdown run for Sua-Godinet who goes in untouched from 14 yards out. 27-20 Kamehameha takes its first lead with 8:49 left.

Another big holding penalty wipes out another Saint Louis drive. Warriors have adjusted on defense and are bringing pressure every play. Tagovailoa doesn’t have enough time to throw.

Crusaders force three straight incompletions and Kamehameha will punt for the first time. Maybe the defenses are settling in?

After a bad punt gives Saint Louis the ball at the Kamehameha 43, Tagobvailoa needs only two plays. 22 yards to Searle and a 21-yard TD pass to Kobayashi and just like that it’s 27-27.

Kam ball at the 20, 15-yard run by Sua-Godinet. Missed tackles everywhere on a 21-yard completion to Peter Hanohano-Hashimoto. Big third-and-7 for Kamehameha with 3:18 left. Deep ball is incomplete. Good defense by the cornerback, Jedadiah Lulu.

Saint Louis takes over on its own 13 with 2:43 left. 62 yards to Sallas. 25-yard touchdown to Jimmy Nunuha. Touchdown Saint Louis. Extra point is no good. 33-27, 2:09, Q2.

Kamehameha will have to punt on its own 22 with 59 seconds remaining. Crusaders take over on their own 33 with less than a minute.

Saint Louis will have one shot at it with 1 second left. Crusaders on their own 49. Tagovailoa can’t get the pass off as Mika Taufa gets his second sack of the half. We go to the break. 825 total yards of offense combined.

Tagovailoa tries to throw to Kobayashi in the end zone but it’s double coverage and Austin Borengasser comes up with the INT.

Third-and-1 and Sua-Godinet just went 15 yards…on a QB sneak. Big 47-yard pass to Jaykob Cabunoc. Jump ball in the end zone is caught by Noa, who is whistled for offensive pass interference. Now it’s back to the 19. They go up top to Noa again and the defense is called for a PI. Third-and-goal at the 10. Josiah Maglente-Tonu with the sack. 30-yard field goal by Crabbe is good. 39-yard scramble by Tagovailoa and Saint Louis has it on the Kam 30. Manalo with a 10-yard run to the 20 for a first. 18-yard pass to Souza down to the 2. Tagovailoa goes option keep, 2-yard TD run. PAT is no good. StL 39, Kam 30, 1:47, Q3.

Crazy stat: The final play of every quarter has been a sack. Linebacker Wallen Teo drops Sua-Godinet to end the third and Kamehameha has a third-and-17 to start the fourth.

Toa Augafa intercepts Sua-Godinet on first play of the fourth. Crusaders ball.

Kobayashi on a go-route and Tagovailoa overthrows him for what could have been a score. Now third-and-21 after a bad personal foul penalty on Saint Louis. Another overthrow. Exhaustion setting in? Saint Louis punts. Alejado takes off on fourth-and-21 and is stopped way short. Not sure what was going on there. Kamehameha takes over on its 43.

Saint Louis chews up the clock on its next drive. 3-yard TD run by Siofau on the 11th play of the drive and Saint Louis has this one in its grasp up 46-30.

39-yard pass to Kahaulelio sets a 4-yard TD pass from Sua-Godinet to Noa. Two-point conversion to Kaulana Werner is good. We still got a game. 46-38 with 3:54 remaining.

Silofau with a big 19-yard run to get a first down. CLock is winding now. Down to less than 3 minutes.

And Saint Louis closes it out. 46-38 final score.
