MAY 7, 1983: Koldene Walsh wills Leilehua to title

On this date in 1983, Koldene Walsh broke or tied records in the 100, 200 and long jump to lead Leilehua to the state track and field title.

He also led his 400 relay team to a victory. The result didn’t surprise anyone, helping the Mules overcome Punahou and Radford.

Punahou won the girls competition.
