Lileikis leads Hawaii qualifiers in Olympic Trials

Recent Punahou graduate ’Aukai Lileikis owns the highest seed among swimmers with Hawaii ties who qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which open Sunday in Omaha, Neb.

According to the psych sheet released by USA Swimming on Wednesday, Lileikis is seeded 35th out of 115 qualifiers in the Men’s 200-meter Freestyle with a seed time of 1 minute, 49.90 seconds. Ryan Lochte is the top seed in the event and Michael Phelps is 14th.

Lileikis, a California commit, is also 94th out of 98 in the 100 Free at 50.56 and 68th out of 107 in the 200 Individual Medley at 2:04.29.


Other local swimmers who qualified for the Olympic Trials include:

>> Summer Harrison (Mid-Pacific, San Diego State): Women’s 100 Butterfly (79th of 141, 1:00.70).

>> Erin McNulty (Hawaii): Women’s 100 Butterfly (90th of 141, 1:00.83).

>> Anu Nihipali (Hawaii Prep, Wagner): Women’s 100 Backstroke (81st of 168, 1:02.77).


>> Ryan Stack (Kamehameha, Wisconsin): Men’s 200 Freestyle (114th of 115, 1:51.87).

>> Renny Richmond (Seabury Hall, Arizona):  Men’s 100 Freestyle (55th of 98, 50.32); 50 Freestyle (156th of 177, 23.26); 100 Butterfly (43rd of 141, 53.94).

>> Kanoa Kaleoaloha (Kamehameha, Florida State): Men’s 50 Freestyle (132nd of 177, 23.22).


>> Micah Ornelas (Hawaii):  Men’s 100 Butterfly (137th of 141, 54.78).
