Why The Hell is Waianae's rank so low????

  3. esugar September 7, 2010 7:36 pm

you're kidding right? not tryna be mean or anything. but they did only win ONE game.

  4. WeRunHI September 10, 2010 8:30 am

Paul Honda should be suspended from work for writing that article about Kaiser being a legitimate threat to Kahuku. I mean, what is he basing his claims on? I'd understand, if he wrote it about Castle or Farrington, BUT KAISER?! They haven't made any noise in the football world for decades! He's either got family going there, or the Hawaii Kai residents paid him for what he wrote. But that was a horrible, horrible article. Even his mentioning of D-I prospects was ridiculous. Kahuku just came off a win where they made St. Louis' D-I prospects disappear, and he thinks Kaiser's prospects are gonna do better? O-M-Gosh.

WerunHI, your comments are welcome, but to set things straight, I have no family in Hawaii Kai. Kaiser does have some legitimate football talent, but as the story went, Kahuku has immense talent. I might add that the Red Raiders are a humble team.

You might consider following the path they've set. We can agree to disagree about Kaiser. I still think they have talent, but simply not enough to give Kahuku a closer battle, obviously, right now.

Any other lies or comments about me you can make to me face to face at the games. I'd be glad to hear you out then.

  6. WeRunHI September 12, 2010 9:21 pm

I apologize for the untrue comments. But honestly, those assumptions of mine were me earnestly trying to figure out why in the world you wrote that article the way you wrote it. Come on Paul, KAISER?! The line I remember most from your article, was something about how Kahuku shouldn't relax after thrashing St. Louis because, and I quote: “Kaiser remains.” Really Paul? Really? Kaiser does have talent, I did not say they didn't. That Ghonda boy and his younger brother in the JV ranks are really quite good. My problem with your article was how you tried to sell the idea that Kaiser had a good chance of pulling the upset. Maybe you could've written an article on the Ghonda brothers, or all the talent on Kaiser's team, but not an article that seriously suggested Kaiser being a legitimate threat to Kahuku. And no thank you to making comments to your face at the games, I'll be too busy watching the game, and that's just dumb to reveal ones identity to those over the internet. You can think I'm scared of you, I don't care.

I just would like to know. Last week there was no write up about the Kaimuki and Nanakuli game on Sunday morning, but yet there were all the other scores from Saturday night. And today you have all the previews for tonight Friday the 17th and tomorrows games and still no preview about the Kaimuki vs Kalaheo game which both teams are undefeated.. come on man. Some of us still have BULLDOG PRIDE we'd like to see something Bro!.

Howzit Alan. This is Paul Honda here.

I do have BULLDOG PRIDE, can’t help that being an ’83 grad, a former basketball player and JV coach. First, the Nanakuli-Kaimuki results may not have been reported before deadline. That is the only way it doesn’t get printed in the paper the next morning. (Nanakuli is not the only program that has struggled to report information and statistics.)

Secondly, the only reason the Kalaheo-Kaimuki game wasn’t mentioned in my weekend preview story is because I FORGOT! My bad. That was a game I really wanted to see, too, but I lost track of it in the midst of my writing.

I apologize for that. It will be very, very interesting to see how Kalaheo’s prolific running back, Jesse Carney, stacks up against a talented Kaimuki defense. A war of attrition is ahead.

WeRun … It was one sentence and simply noted that Kahuku shouldn’t relax. NO TEAM should relax. It applies to everyone, including powerhouse programs. As I wrote before, Kahuku once lost on the road to Roosevelt (a few years back) in a game most fans believed would be a blowout. Nobody’s “selling” anything, as you again incorrectly assume.

My question to you is, why would you feel so arrogant that Kahuku could actually look past any team? What I wrote is not a diss against Kahuku at all. Kaiser, on a given night, can play with anyone, and THEY PROVED THIS a week later by nearly winning at Castle.

I also don’t care if you’re “scared” or whatever about talking face to face. I always find that the true fans of student-athletes — especially those of us who have coached, refereed and helped kids over the years — are always willing to talk story. It means we can also agree to disagree often, which is a must because this is about sports and nobody will agree with everyone else 100 percent of the time.

If you cannot tolerate a different opinion, that’s on you. But I’m all about talking face to face because it’s the best way to read the real heart of someone. If you don’t want me to know precisely how much arrogance you have in your heart about Kahuku football, so be it. But it’s too late for that, apparently.

I’m just glad the young men on the Red Raiders squad show much more humility than a few of the “adults” in the community. Claiming that someone must have family from a certain neighborhood just because you lack humility … ridiculous. Writing that I “should be suspended” because you think so little of Kaiser … priceless!

    See you at the game.

  12. huichewey September 19, 2010 8:51 pm

no mention about that running back from kalaheo, jesse carney? breaking the all time single game rushing yards record held by kama bailey, before him joe igber, before him mark atuaia, come on give credit when credit is due, yeah it was against kalani but the boy dont make the schedule, he just gets the hand of and runs.

  13. huichewey September 19, 2010 8:56 pm

    yes u have

  14. Redraidahfolife September 24, 2010 10:54 pm

true.. but…kalani? my 4 year old could have busted the record against them. secondly..did you read the stats on the other runningbacks? receivers?……yeah, there were NONE..case in point, if other teams only had a single running back to score points and make yards, there would be alot more records broken..

  15. Redraidahfolife September 24, 2010 10:57 pm

come on “werunhi”, dont back down.. ill ask small paul in his face..no ack paul you fwam..getting too big for your article.
