On this day a year ago, D’Asha Saiki doubled and scored in the eighth inning to earn Punahou an 8-7 victory over Iolani and its second straight state berth.

The Buffanblu went on to win the ILH but fell short of the state title with a 12-4 thumping by Leilehua in the semifinals.

Iolani picked things up for the ILH, though, beating the Mules 17-2 in the state final. The Raiders scored 50 runs in four games.
