Hirata, Antonio lead BIIF golf

Waiakea’s Trevor Hirata shot a 68, with a 32 on the back, in the first round of the BIIF golf championships at Hualalai on Sunday.

Hirata leads Preston Ching of Kamehameha-Hawaii by eight strokes with the final round set for Tuesday.

Kamehameha-Hawaii’s Shantel Antonio shot a 76 to lead Waiakea’s Kaley Saludares by three strokes in the girls tournament. Hilo’s Sunny Sakai beat teammate Juby Aipoalani in a playoff for the last spot in Tuesday’s field.
