Na Alii’s Freitas is national honorable mention

King Kekaulike girls volleyball player Treyanna-Lee Freitas was picked as a 2015-16 Under Armour All-American honorable mention.

Freitas, a 5-foot-4 libero, has committed to play for Washington State next year. She was the only player from Hawaii and one of 17 liberos across the nation recognized by Under Armour — one on first team, five on second team, one on third team and 10 honorable mentions.

Na Alii won the Maui Interscholastic League championship under coach Al Paschoal. They were seeded third in last week’s Division I state tournament, where they lost matches to eventual champion Kamehameha and fifth-place finisher Kapolei to finish the season at 13-4.

Freitas finished with 18 digs, 14 kills, three assists and two aces in six sets played in the state tournament.
