VIDEO: No. 1 Maryknoll vs. No. 2 Konawaena

The Konawaena Wildcats upset top-seeded Maryknoll 47-32 on Saturday at Blaisdell Center to capture their fourth consecutive girls basketball state title. Paul Honda/Star-Advertiser (Feb. 3, 2018)

The battle in the trenches turned into a test of wills. Konawaena trailed at the half, 22-17, then got a layup from Cherilyn Molina and a corner 3 by Caiyle Kaupu to tie the game at 22. From there, the second-seeded Wildcats took control of the tempo and upset top-seeded Maryknoll, making it four consecutive state titles for Konawaena and nine crowns in the past 15 years under Coach Bobbie Awa.
