Update: Punahou 48, Farrington 28, F

FIRST QUARTER
ILH runner-up Punahou trails 10-5 as the first TV time out is called with 3:17 to go. Three-quarter press by the Buffanblu giving the Lady Governors some difficulty. Moli Heimuli is in charge for the Govs, scoring in halfcourt and transition.

Heimuli scores on a nice spin move in transition and it’s 12-5. Time out, PUN. Buffanblu have center Va‘e Malufau back from a shoulder injury and they don’t look in sync yet.

The quarter ends with Farrington up 14-5 on another Heimuli layup. She and the Govs look fresh. Punahou looks a step slow right now.


SECOND QUARTER
The Buffanblu have kept the three-quarter press on and it is paying off. They’ve rallied to tie the game at 16 with 3:37 left. TV time out.


The Buffanblu closed the first half with a 9-1 run for a 25-17 lead. The length of Punahou’s defenders on this three-quarter press is forcing Farrington into some off-target long passes out of bounds.


THIRD QUARTER
Punahou increases the lead to 33-17 in the third, which makes it a 17-1 run since midway through the second quarter.

Govs coach Caroline Tatupu calls time out with 2:26 left and Punahou ahead 38-21. Punahou has Moe on the bench resting and Malufau on the court.
