Konawaena seeded No. 1 in D-I state tourney

The seedings and pairings are out for the Hawaiian Airlines/HHSAA Girls Basketball State Championships this morning.

Konawaena is the No. 1 seed in the Division I tournament, which tips off on Tuesday. After a first-round bye, the Wildcats will meet the King Kekaulike-Kaiser winner on Wednesday, 7 p.m., at McKinley Student Council Gym.

The No. 2 seed is defending state champion Lahainaluna, which will meet the Kapolei-Pearl City winner on Wednesday, 5 p.m., at Radford’s James Alegre Gymnasium.


Third-seeded Punahou will play Waiakea or Kahuku on Wednesday, 7 p.m., at Alegre Gym.

Farrington is the No. 4 seed and will meet the ‘Iolani-Kaimuki winner on Wednesday, 5 p.m., at McKinley.

The site for the D-I tourney on Thursday and Friday will be Neal Blaisdell Center.
