Kamehameha got its revenge and Waiakea is making noise.
The Kamehameha Warriors avenged an early loss to Konawaena by winning decisively, 58-45, on Saturday at the ‘Iolani Prep Classic. Coach Pua Straight‘s Warriors moved up a spot to No. 2, switching places with the BIIF powerhouse Wildcats.
Waiakea is now 7-0, and though the Warriors haven’t traveled off the Big Island yet, they have wins over Kahuku and Lahainaluna. New coach Alika Smith has the Warriors humming on all cylinders. Hawaii signee Kelsi Imai leads a veteran group that trounced Ka‘u and Kohala in the first two league games of the season by a total margin of 113 points.
