‘Iolani Classic: Konawaena, Brea Olinda win

Brea Olinda (Calif.)  65, ‘Iolani 60

The Ladycats broke a 55-all tie with a 6-0 run to pull away from Hawaii’s No. 2-ranked team.

Third quarter: Down 16, ‘Iolani rallied to within three thanks to hot shooting by Kylie Maeda and Saphyre Rezentes. Maeda nailed three treys in the quarter, and Rezentes’ score on a short jumper for a three-point play.


Konawaena 62, Oregon City 53

Third quarter: The Pioneers’ passing game is wearing down Konawaena as they got several layups of backdoor cuts. They got within 43-33 before Courtney Kaupu scored for Konawaena late in the third.

Second quarter: Lia Galdeira’s steal and layup just before the buzzer gave Konawaena a 15-point lead at the break. Galdeira has 16 points, seven rebounds, four steals, four assists and a block so far. She also has two personal fouls.

First quarter: Lia Galdeira has eight points, three boards, three steals and a couple of assists as the Wildcats are breaking the Pioneers’ press easily.


Bishop Gorman 68, Mid-Pacific 54

In consolation play, Ashlin Gross scored 25 points as the Lady Gaels rallied past the Owls. April Rivers added 11 points for the visitors from Las Vegas, who trailed 47-46 entering the final quarter.

Kiki Robertson led MPI with 17 points. Pua Kanekoa and Megan Kinoshita chipped in 10 points each. The Owls led 26-12 after the one quarter.
