
Celena Jane Molina, Konawaena’s basketball and volleyball standout, has orally committed to Washington State.
The 5-foot-9 senior is a three-time Star-Advertiser Girls Basketball All-State Fab 15 selection and two-time state champion. She will play basketball for the Cougars, who recruited her older sister, recent graduate Chanelle Molina. Youngest sister Cherilyn Molina, an all-state junior guard who also plays volleyball, has a scholarship offer from Washington State, as well.
Celena Jane Molina can sign her letter of intent on Nov. 9.
She is on Oahu this week with the Wildcats volleyball team, which will play Damien in the quarterfinal round of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Girls Volleyball Division II State Championships.
She was an avid soccer player growing up, but took up basketball and volleyball with older sister Chanelle. Konawaena won the D-II state volleyball championship two years ago.
Washington State has built a pipeline to the girls basketball dynasty at Konawaena. Former All-State player of the year Lia Galdeira and four-time Fab 15 selection Dawnyelle Awa played for the Cougars. Prior to their arrival, ‘Iolani boys basketball phenom Derrick Low played in Pullman before embarking on his current professional hoops career.
