APRIL 3, 1998: Farrington’s Robynn Afe scores 29 in loss to Kahuku

Robynn Afe was a force for Farrington in 1998.

On this date in 1998, the Kahuku girls basketball team proved that a balanced approach can overcome even the brightest star.

Nine different Red Raiders scored points and Kahuku beat Farrington 49-45 despite Robynn Afe’s 29 points — 22 in the second half.

Neither team was a match for Kalaheo for the OIA title but Kahuku made it to states where it lost both games, 67-59 to Konawaena and 34-29 to Waipahu. Afe didn’t play in the state tournament when the Governors fell short. Afe, a sophomore, never played in a state tournament.
