Mililani head football coach Rod York confirmed that quarterback McKenzie Milton is likely out for the season after suffering a severe shoulder injury during the first quarter of tonight’s game at Kailua.

“The bone was almost coming up to here,” York said, pointing to an ear.

Milton was injured while throwing a pass downfield for a completion.

“It was a legal hit,” York added.

Sophomore Kaysen Higa stepped in and guided the Trojans to a 45-21 win over the Surfriders.

Milton was the Star-Advertiser 2014 All-State offensive player of the year as Mililani captured the state championship.

Please retract this article. This is false reporting. I advise you do more homework prior to posting articles of this nature in the future. THIS IS NOT A FANTASY FOOTBALL PLAYER UPDATE. Please do not treat it to that nature with medical assumptions. You have not spoken to his family or to any doctors that he has seen. He’s a kid that took a hard hit and we hope to see you suited up again real soon, KZ.
Do your homework before you put something in print.

  2. OIA Watcher September 27, 2015 12:07 am

How is this false reporting when the Head Coach is the one answering the question?? Lol go talk to York then and write it on your own thread…if you have one that is lol

  3. Hawaii Nakoa September 27, 2015 4:22 am

Here we go…excuses for days smh! Hope that kid gets better!

  4. GoBigRed September 27, 2015 4:53 am

As a RR4L and football fan in general, this SUCKS! Never want any kids to suffer serious injury. Wish him a speedy recovery. Was looking forward to our team playing against him cuz always want to play against the best…and he was da best QB in da state. Trojans will still be good and tough to beat etc, but he put them on a whole different level.

  5. Trojangangordie September 27, 2015 7:48 am

OIA Watcher. I was at the hospital with him. Like I said, do your homework.

  6. red x September 27, 2015 7:48 am

I hope it’s not all true or atleast he can get a speedy recovery to be back before states. I still think mililani is favorite to win it all I mean they won’t be putting up 70 but they sure can still put 40 on the board. It sucks knowing mililani won’t be at there best because the best player in hawaii high school history is out. Anyways this injury is going to bring the beast out of Trojan football and they will be a dangerous team to play come playoff time.

  7. Rr4l September 27, 2015 8:30 am

    Speedy recovery!

    @GoBigRed

The best quarterback has offers from USC,UCLA, WASHINGTON,OLE MISS,UTAH, ETC……

  8. 007 September 27, 2015 8:46 am

Good for Mililani they junk anyway. They so over rated this year .

  9. Kahuku 82 September 27, 2015 8:59 am

Paul Honda was just quoting what coach York said! Don’t think he was making assumptions on his own. If anyone needs to do their homework is their coach! He should of just said he won’t know anything until the Dr. Sees him. Well anyways that’s besides the point. Just hope it’s nothing serious and wish him a speedy recovery. Prayers out to him and his family.

  10. GoBigRed September 27, 2015 9:48 am

@red x – please be realistic…Trojans are not posting 40 points on the top teams in the state without Milton – not even close. The reason he got injured in the first place is because their O-line is average at best (the phrase “like water” comes to mind) and it has been his scrambling ability that has kept drives alive. And we all know their defense is below average this year.

@Rr4l – # of scholarship offers do not equate to top player at that position. I seem to remember the MOST recruited player (OL for Kaiser) getting ABSOLUTELY WORKED when we played them, whereas other OL for other schools have performed better. Seems to me that until the QB to whom you are referring actually WINS a state championship, then he is 2nd to Milton (at least at the high school level)…and by the looks of Friday’s game, that probably won’t happen this year…although I do hope he chooses UDUB!

  11. hiro September 27, 2015 10:39 am

Damn, one injury…… now the state title is up for grabs….. hope for a speedy recovery…..

  12. Trojan fan September 27, 2015 11:13 am

Hate is a bad thing guys. Some of you come on here just to show whats in your heart. Its not hurting mililani but making your schools look ugly. This community stands behind our trojans, and all the trash talk won’t change that. Speedy recovery to our QB mckenzie.Great job last night kaysen, way to step up.GO TROJANS

  13. 007 September 27, 2015 11:23 am

Yah we lost last week but it’s ok we will face you guys again trojan fan.

  14. RRFLbaby September 27, 2015 11:34 am

@trojangangordie, i dont understand what ur upset about in regards to the article. But like many people, we send prayers to the kid for his recovery. Regardless of what team he plays on, any kid getting hurt sucks.

  15. Football Fan September 27, 2015 11:37 am

All the story says is Coach York says Milton is “likely out for the season.” This is not false reporting but truth provided by what Coach York said. Trojangangordie, calm down. Nothing wrong going on here.

  16. Kahuku#1 September 27, 2015 11:48 am

Praying for a speedy recovery.prayers to McKenzie and to the Milton ohana. As a Kahuku fan we hope to get the opportunity to meet up with Mililani in the playoffs.if we do get that chance i hope and pray Milton is back and 100% .we wouldnt want it any other way.We would love to meet up with Mililani at its best.Blessing again to McKenzie. #GOBIGRED

  17. ManoaRainbow September 27, 2015 12:02 pm

Get a life people, especially you Kahuku people, this article is about Mililani and you still find a way to make it about you. SMDH!

  18. Blake Rose September 27, 2015 12:33 pm

Mckenzie is by far the best QB to ever play Hawaii highschool football. It’s a shame because he would have broke Timmy Changs record, made it to 3 state championships, and would have probably went to Oregon. Keep fighting kid, Haters will always hate. Can’t wait to watch you open up with Michigan playing for Hawaii!

  19. ... September 27, 2015 12:53 pm

    fricken defense..

  20. Mrs Blake Rose September 27, 2015 1:08 pm

    Hahahahahahahahaha
First of all york was just makin all this drama up. But he’ll be back. The best to ever play hawaii high school??? Your full of it. If qb’s were kept in the 3rd and 4th quarter whwn their teams were up by 4 touchdowns they would have stats like Milton. Fyi he is being recruited to hawaii as an ATHLETE. AND HE WILL REDSHIRT CAUSE HES TOO SMALL.

Best QB from Hawaii High School????
    There are many….Timmy Chang…..Jason Gesser….John Hao……..Darnell Arcenaux…..whatever dude. Milton will play again watch…just trying to make drama…

  21. Blake Rose September 27, 2015 2:09 pm

I would kick your ass lil boy

  22. OIA September 27, 2015 2:22 pm

ManoaRainbow, none of the Kahuku fans said anything negative about this article or the comments. You must be talking about the comment refering to Mililani not scoring 40 without Milton, which is probably true but not negative at all. Seems as if you have a personal envy problem with BigRed, perhaps you and your school lost to them one too many times.

  23. Mr. Blake Rose September 27, 2015 2:30 pm

    @Mrs. Blake Rose

Please don’t ever post again till you have the facts. Milton is one of the best quarterbacks in state history and definantly right now. If he played all 4 quarters every game he would have shattered the record Timmy set a long time ago. His percentages are higher than anyone in the state his QBR is higher than anyone and he GETS THE JOB DONE. If he’s able to recover in time for the playoffs Mililani is a lock. No one can keep up with them. And this nonsense about being to small. If he does sign to UH he will be starting as a freshman and you probably will be on the Kz bandwagon and hate that you didn’t know what you were talking about. He is 6 feet that’s plenty tall enough to play college ball.

  24. Rok888 September 27, 2015 2:37 pm

Both Punahou and Mililani playing with their 2nd string QB now. Which team is better?

  25. 808polytics September 27, 2015 3:09 pm

millz woulda had a tough time winning the OIA let alone the states with Milton…if hes really gone they dont got a prayer! poor guy

  26. Manly September 27, 2015 4:20 pm

Injuries is part of the game. Many have questioned Milton staying in during the blow out games. For stats? Experience? Coaching? Anyway he is a good quarterback. No question. The best in Hawaii football history? That’s a stretch. But in any case, have a speedy recovery!

  27. Trojan fan September 27, 2015 4:23 pm

I like you guys that come on here and talk trash about mililani and hide behind screen names not showing what school you represent. Like I said hate and jealousy is a ugly thing. GO TROJANS

  28. Manly September 27, 2015 4:32 pm

Well at least another recruit, the running back from Halawa, bailed them out.

  29. mililani4life September 27, 2015 4:36 pm

remember we did lose to liberty and st louis beat them we are able to lose d o dont get nuts…. mililani fans

  30. Mrs Blake Rose September 27, 2015 4:58 pm

    MR blake rose,

You should write to yourself. Don’t say things you think are facts. Those are your opinions and you are entitled to them. When someone replies to your opinion then just go with it cause thats their opinion. He should shatter all the records cause he IS STILL PLAYING IN THE GAME IN THE 3rd and 4th quarter when they are winning by 6 touchdowns. Also he is doing all that against McKinley, Aiea, Waipahu, (no disrespect to them), etc…. What message is that when he is still in when they are up. Now that he is hurt your BUTT hurts too. Sorry but Rod York did not recruit well the last 2 years. So with that being said im sure the REAL MILILANI RESIDENTS are happy cause now their kids can play next year.

    As for Milton,

Hope you get better soon. Cause Mr Blake thinks you will start as a Freshman at UH. You will end up redshirting. Good luck

  31. Trojans September 27, 2015 5:07 pm

we don’t even play Waipahu lol

  32. Bust laugh September 27, 2015 5:18 pm

    ^ LOL

  33. MRS Blake Rose September 27, 2015 5:21 pm

Actually cause you have no clue,

Milton beat Waipahu when he was a sophomore. Stats???????

  34. Blake Rose September 27, 2015 5:22 pm

Milton put up 53 in the State Championship against a very good Punahoe Defense. He isn’t putting up those crazy numbers in the second half its usually in the first quarter. If Mckenzie was playing QB for hawaii this past week they probably would have beet Wisconsin. (Or at least scored a point) Mrs. Blake Rose should Fk off

  35. Trojan fan September 27, 2015 5:25 pm

Like I said hide behind a screen name and talk trash with out any clue why that rb is at mililani.Cant beat us so gotta talk trash. I guess if it makes you feel better keep talking while the trojans keep winning.
    GO TROJANS

  36. MRS Blake Rose September 27, 2015 5:32 pm

    @Mr Blake Rose,

Hahahahahahaha u too funny brada. Beat Wisconsin??? Go beat your face.

    @Trojan Fan
U hiding behind your screen name. Im from Liberty. Hellluurrrrr we beat u!

  37. MRS Blake Rose September 27, 2015 5:35 pm

    Breaking news!!!!!!!!
Rod York leaving for Iolani or St Louis next year…LOL

“I can recruit in the ILH “

  38. Actions September 27, 2015 5:46 pm

This post is as almost as entertaining as the game was. Let the boys play, regardless of where they are from, and whoever takes their respective league title, including states, deserves it.

  39. fan of sports September 27, 2015 5:58 pm

A kid gets hurt and people talk smack about him, his coach and his school instead of wish him well? Sad. It speaks volumes of how pathetic and small minded some of you are. If you feel good about the put downs, it’s scary that you put so much into HIGH SCHOOL football that you cannot man up enough to wish this kid a sincere get well soon.

Heard McKenzie is the most humble kid, the kind of kid anyone would want for a son. Wish him nothing but the best, not just in football, but in life.

  40. oldtimer808 September 27, 2015 6:48 pm

How sad when a young man gets injured that there has to be these kinds of comments. I sincerely wish young Milton a speedy recovery and the injury was not to his throwing shoulder.

  41. oldtimer808 September 27, 2015 6:49 pm

I hope Milton and Timoteo uphold their verbal commitment to the University of Hawaii. We need our local boys to represent Hawaii.

  42. TGOD September 27, 2015 7:45 pm

Yup, it’s High School Football. Not the NFL, these are our kids we’re talking about. Someone’s son, brother, nephew, etc. No need to hate on anyone or any program. Mililani won the state championship and did it within the rules, or they would of been stripped of their title. Mililani has a lot of homegrown talent in many different sports winning koa heads recently in soccer and softball. We support the boys no matter who they are, where they come from, or what others say.

  43. Realist September 27, 2015 9:54 pm

What a click bait article LOL. Headline is Milton out for the year. First paragraph says he is LIKELY out for the year. So which one is it? For all we know York could be blowing smoke just to make other teams not prepare for Milton in the lineup. Nothing to gain telling the media the truth about this kind of stuff, Patriots don’t.

  44. phILHarmonic September 28, 2015 9:10 am

shaping up to be a great post season!!

  45. Tiki808 September 28, 2015 11:19 am

Out for the year. Out and finish with high school. Very slim chance at UH as quarterback. Rougher.

  46. Tiki808 September 28, 2015 11:40 am

He will need anti-inflammatory medications to make him breathe more fluently. Plus pain killers. And be in a sling. And antibiotics for viruses or germs. Out and finished for the year.2

  47. Tiki808 September 28, 2015 11:53 am

Unions of the north, or rich and the confederate of the south. Civil war 1864. But he still need those medications.

  48. Tiki808 September 28, 2015 12:10 pm

A few facts about Hawai’i. Average life expactantcy in 1787-1800, was 43 years old. Viruses, infections, leprosy, was rampant in Hawai’i. Before plantation era. Until further explorers from mainland and England arrived, life in Hawai’i was shorter lived or shorter life span.

  49. LBI September 28, 2015 9:17 pm

Heal well young man, you have nothing more to prove to anyone. If you can make it back 100% for states, it would be a pleasure to watch you compete once more before your HS career ends.

    Kahuku Alumni

  50. MRS Blake Rose September 28, 2015 11:18 pm

I told you this was all drama…Well hope you get better soon so that way when you don’t win the Title this year you won’t say well so and so did not play…. Good luck to Mililani/Halawa Trojans this year during the playoffs. Next year all the real kids that live in Mililani will have the chance to play.

    GOBIGRED!
