Waialua will not be fielding a junior varsity football team this season, and all of its scheduled games have been forfeited, Oahu Interscholastic Association football coordinator Harold Tanaka told Hawaii Prep World on Thursday.
Tanaka did not give a reason for the forfeits, but judging by Waialua’s low participation numbers for varsity and JV football, it’s likely due to a lack of numbers.
Bulldogs varsity head coach Lincoln Barit and athletic director Bryce Kaneshiro could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon. Hawaii Prep World will update readers if either can be reached Thursday night.
Tanaka added that Waialua’s varsity game start times this season will be 6 p.m. when games are on Fridays and 5 p.m. when games are on Saturdays.
The Bulldogs’ varsity team is coming off a 32-14 win at Honokaa on the Big Island last Saturday, and will play their home opener this Friday against Kalani at 6 p.m.
Maybe the Waialua AD should talk with Darren Johnson or Richard Torres to become the new head coach, everyone knows there are alot of talent on the north shore just waiting to be given a chance to play.
