The quarterfinal round of USA Today America’s Best High School Football Stadiums public poll is underway.
Waianae’s Raymond Torii Field advanced out of the round of 16 last week with a lopsided win over Diamond Ranch Academy (Utah). Torii Field, the No. 3 seed, is paired with No. 6 Jelsma Stadium (Okla.). In early voting, Jelsma Stadium leads Torii Field 303-217 (59 percent to 41 percent).
Many of the sites in the poll are multi-million dollar facilities, but none has quite the aesthetic, natural environment of Torii Field’s Waianae Mountain Range on the mauka side, and the majestic Pacific Ocean and sunsets on the makai side.
Voting begins today and ends on Saturday.
