Though Saint Louis called a fair catch, Punahou’s cover man (gunner), #9, was blocked into the returner by Saint Louis #53. That negates the fair catch and any possible interference penalty. After the ball bounced off #53’s leg, it was recovered by Punahou.
Conclusion: Officials made the right no-call.
