Both Farrington and Leilehua showed promise in this nonconference battle at Hugh Yoshida Stadium on Friday night. One of the recurring themes for the visiting Governors was speed both sides of the ball. An explosive ground attack kept much of the pressure off freshman quarterback Richard Tagataese, and the Govs defense came up with six sacks and a fumble return for a score.
Leilehua showed some moxie, hanging close despite early struggles. First-year starting QB Max Nichols showed big-play capability with his arm, but also ran for a 39-yard TD. Veteran receiver Jeremy Evans led a talented pass-catching corps.
