Regarding the Open Championship, the question isn’t if Kahuku can win (like these 2 guys are talking about and btw who censor these threads), but which quarter will SL put Kahuku in to the mercy rule.

No disrespect to Kahuku, just not this year….

Div I & II games might be more interesting.

Great season everyone and much success to all of the seniors moving on to play at the next level (in whatever division).

    Rep da 808…..

MY COMMENT IS NOT ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE 3 DIVISION, ITS GOING TO BE GOOD KNOW DOUBT ABOUT THAT. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE LAHAINALUNA REPEAT BECAUSE THAT WOULD REALLY BE A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT, I DON’T KNOW OF ANY OTHER TEAM THAT HAS DONE THAT REASONLY, HAVE YOU? OK TOO MUCH ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. MY BEEF IS WITH WHOEVER HAS THE LAST SAY ABOUT THE STATE PLAYOFF ALIGNMENT AND SELECTION COMMITTEE. THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO INCLUDE ONE MORE TEAM FROM THE ILH OPEN DIVISION TO BE SELECTED ,ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT TEAM MIGHT BE THE 2 BEST TEAM IN THE WHOLE STATE, LIKE HOW PUNAHOU WAS, JUST BECAUSE THE ILH SCHOOLS ARE NOT AS LARGE IN THE AMOUNT OF SCHOOLS MAKE UP THEIR CERTAIN DIVISION, THAT SCHOOL SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED, AND, THAT’S WHAT IT LOOKS AND FEELS LIKE. WITH ALL THE SMART GUYS ON THE COMMITTEE HIGHLY EDUCATED, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO INVITE ONE MORE ILH SCHOOL TO THE BIG DANCE, DON’T YOU AGREE?

  3. Spell Checkb November 27, 2019 3:19 pm

Yes Kenny I think many agree with you that Punahou should be in the Open tourney but we’re also appalled at you grammar and all CAPs post (you wrote “REASONALY” not a word you probably meant to say “recently”) Just kidding bro keep bringing it!

  4. Lou November 27, 2019 6:21 pm

Hey, as for the ILH, just add Damien and Iolani to your open. Then you can play twice or three times. Then this combine Open can be elimimated. If the ILH want’s to play OIA st the end, then good. Remember when this open was invented, “it will make all teams better and equal:? Right St.lulu going for a 4 peat with last week’s quarter final going into “mercy” and 6 other Open games mercy rule. They should put St.lu in the next level.

  5. CrusaderDad November 27, 2019 8:34 pm

Can add a 4th OIA team and the 2nd place ILH. 1st in ILH/OIA get a bye then the 3, 4, 5 (OIA) and 2nd ILH play first week (quarterfinals), winners play the top 2 seeds (semifinals) then the winners play in the finals.

  6. Aiea 7 November 27, 2019 9:41 pm

open division – adding Punahou would not change who the eventual champion will be – st louis. believe Punahou played st louis twice and lost twice. nobody cares about 2nd place, only the champion. same with the other divisions, Damien would not have won anyway they simply were not good as iolani. and believe that iolani will lose to Hilo.

  7. MiliLouis November 28, 2019 12:24 am

Just fix the dang format for the future years to come.
All games count for everyone, then take the top 4 teams for the Open Div State Championship tournament. Very simple. OIA just be happy with the majority of the gate $$$ and let the best compete.

Yes, Punahou had a great season, but it’s all water under the bridge now. SL will 4-peat.

Btw, since SL has been unbeaten for the past several years, has any other team besides this years punahou team come within 7 pts or less?

  8. Wainakea November 28, 2019 2:36 am

There’s only two leagues in the Open, and ILH and OIA both have their own playoffs. Just do the own prep bowl again. So pointless for some easy cash for Spectrum and home teams.

  9. ??? November 28, 2019 8:47 am

Everyones talking about “NOT FAIR” Punahou didn’t make states!
Nobody talking about ILH LEGALLY recruiting NOT being fair to all OIA schools?
    Punahou lost to STL twice and would of lost a third time too;
Let all Open teams LEGALLY recruit than choose The Top 4 teams. “That’s Fair”

    All open teams can.
    It’s called a district exception.
Just look at how Mililani and Campbell did it.
Since it was done, cant argue about that.
In fact, OIA may have it better because you don’t have to sit out a year. So ILH may actually be at a disadvantage because not many players would want to transfer as a soph or junior if they lose a year of eligibility.

Who knows if Pun would have lost a third game against SL.

    Watch the the film.

Game changing calls in game #1 which led to 2 SL TD’s (I heard refs got reprimanded).

Bogus holding flag to call a TD back in game #2.

    Lucky never have instant replay.

    SL will have their 4-peat.
They’re still a great team and well coached.

  12. LOU November 28, 2019 12:36 pm

#11….fact is , Punahou lost 2 games against saints. No coulda woulda. Mililani had 2 shots. Now Kahuku has a second shot. Okay. Easy.

  13. Name withheld because I want to be anonymous like education first November 28, 2019 6:20 pm

The whole thing is stupid. Creating a division just so the ilh can have full pads practice. They made the Oia become just like the ilh, Play each other, then play each other again, only to play each other one more time

Correct the division numbering protocol every state has the higher number be the larger schools.

  14. @ LOU November 28, 2019 10:10 pm

    @ #12

Yeah, punahou lost 2 games to SL and the zebras.

    No can when it’s 12 vs 11.

I swear had one small crusader logo on the refs left sleeve…..

    Happy Thanksgiving

    (drop the mic)

  15. CrusaderDad November 29, 2019 8:07 am

Both StL vs Pun games had bad calls on both sides…the Buff-n-Blu got a TD on a dropped ball…
