Update: #3 Saint Louis 73, Pac-Five 6, final

4:11 p.m.
It’s a pretty day here in Halawa. Blue skies, hardly a cloud and absolutely no breeze on the field at Aloha Stadium. Saint Louis is marching in. Pac-Five is starting to warm up. I’ll have updates here for the rest of the day and night. Kamehameha and ‘Iolani to follow.

5:12 p.m.
Crusaders score on their second play from scrimmage, a 70-yard bomb from Ryder Kuhns to Devan Stubblefield down the left side. Wolfpack had a couple of third-and-short situations, but passed deep and incomplete each time.

Saint Louis just got whistled for roughing the kicker (punter).


5:23 p.m.
Moments after a punt return for touchdown by Allan Cui was called back (illegal block penalty), the Crusaders botch their own punt snap. Pac-Five scores on an 18-yard streak pass from Anthony Canencia to Tsubasa Brennan. The ‘Pack missed the PAT kick. Saint Louis leads 7-6 with 6:53 to go in the first quarter.

5:27 p.m.
Saint Louis scores on its next play from scrimmage. Running back Adam Noga bounces outside and cuts back to the middle, sprinting 80 yards between the hashmarks for a Saint Louis touchdown. Crusaders lead 14-6 with 6:30 left in the opening quarter.

5:30 p.m.
Tanner Oshiro returns an interception over the middle 42 yards to the end zone and the Crusaders lead 21-6 with 6:10 remaining in the first quarter.

5:36 p.m.
Faafatai Lulu returns a pick to the house, a 25-yard return on a pass by Anthony Canencia, and the Crusaders lead 28-6 with 4:53 to go in the first quarter.

5:47 p.m.
Tyler Kanoa intercepts an underthrown bomb by Kuhns intended for Stubblefield to end the next Saint Louis possession, but Lulu comes up with another pick over the middle, his second of the game. He returns it to the Pac-Five 18-yard line. Second quarter is underway.


5:50 p.m.
Kuhns to Stubblefield on an in route to start the second quarter for a 12-yard touchdown pass. Crusaders lead 35-6 with 11:54 to go.

6:01 p.m.
Kuhns to tight end Spencer Johnson for a 6-yard touchdown pass. Crusaders lead 42-6 with 8:33 to play in the first half.

6:11 p.m.
Adam Noga drags defenders the final 10 yards of a 33-yard touchdown run up the middle. Saint Louis 49, Pac-Five 6, 6:06, second quarter.

6:21 p.m.
Christopher Quinn drills a 35-yard field goal. Saint Louis 52, Pac-Five 6, 1:54, second quarter.

6:49 p.m.
Raymond Cayaan with the cutback on a 46-yard touchdown run. Saint Louis 59, Pac-Five 6, 9:47, third quarter.


7:04 p.m.
Kaulana Vinoya scores on a 4-yard run. Saint Louis 66, Pac-Five 6, 11:46, fourth quarter.

7:12 p.m.
Raymond Cayaan with his second touchdown of the game, a 45-yard run off right tackle. Saint Louis 73, Pac-Five 6, 6:29, fourth quarter.

    I’m a Saint Louis alumnus residing on the mainland and would like to know why it was necessary for my alma mater to run up the score as it did.
