Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams to coach Poly Bowl

Super Bowl champion quarterbacks Doug Williams and Trent Dilfer have been selected as head coaches for the 2021 Polynesian Bowl at Aloha Stadium in January.

Williams will coach Team Mauka in the nationally televised event scheduled for January 23. Dilfer will oversee Team Makai.

Dilfer, currently the head coach of the Elite 11 quarterback camp, won the Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens during his 14-year NFL career. Williams led Washington to a victory in Super Bowl XXII and was named the game’s MVP.

They will certainly have some stories that might relate to the phenoms they will be tasked with coaching for the week. They were both first-round draft picks by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who went on to win Super Bowls for other teams. Williams was chosen 17th overall in 1978 and Dilfer went sixth overall in 1994.
