    Auwrite!!! Let’s do this.
Good luck to all the squads!
Let’s GO BIG RED!! Bring the trophy back North side!!

    RRFL!!

  2. screaming LUNATIC October 23, 2017 9:46 am

I don’t understand why Lahainaluna has to play at War Memorial Stadium? That is not Lahainaluna’s home field? We had to travel to Konawaena and play at their home stadium last year? Did we grumble? NO! WHY? Cause they went through the season beating everyone and they kept their top rankings till tournament time. They deserve to host at their home stadium! Did we grumble about paying for hotel rooms and rental car to stay there a day? NO?

Our boys did it this year. They held that number 1 ranking through the season. They deserve to host this game. To be state champs is a honor but being able to host teams in their own community is the highlight for our boys. To be able to introduce to the rest of the state how this community supports Lahainaluna.

Winning the title is great but bragging rights is not the real honor, its about showing the rest of the state what Lahainaluna football is about. FAMILY, PRIDE, & RESPECT. That is what Lahainaluna football is about. IMUA LUNAS #codered

    Sorry small kine Rant….

  3. rajah October 23, 2017 9:55 am

Why challenge 3rd place?! waste time. whoever wins oia just challenge st louis already!!! lol

  4. Recruit dis October 23, 2017 9:57 am

What a rip off. How are you gonna be the #1 seed and have to play the # 3 seed. That’s why we should just go back to the prep bowl. So St. Louis has to beat the #1 and #2 oia to win states. Now that’s the dumbest tournament I ever heard of. If that’s the case it should be #1 ILH vs 2 oia and #1 oia vs #2 ILH . That’s what happens when you have a bunch of idiots running the show.

  5. RR4LIFE living the lie October 23, 2017 9:59 am

Stop crying and move up to D1. Challenge yourselves and make the move. There is only one REAL state champ and that’s the team that wins the top division. Lahaina football is a joke

  6. EMZ October 23, 2017 10:07 am

WOW!..by the looks of it, it is a little unfair! All the #1 and #2 seeds are playing a “HOME” game at their respected fields..The Lunas should be at their own field as well. HHSAA should honor the Lunas their rights to play atop Lahainaluna at Sue Cooley Stadium. Those players deserve to play in front of their OWN fans who support and follow them wherever they go. Those players fought hard to stay on top of the rankings so that they could have the privilege of a #1 seed. It is NOT a “HOME” game if it’s not at “HOME”, Wailuku is not HOME, LAHAINA IS! So HHSAA, if your reading this, PLEASE be fair and honor those boys what they rightfully own!!

  7. MillKamp October 23, 2017 10:18 am

RR4LIFE, who your school?..Kahuku? St Louis? Who?..Kamehameha?..Mililani?..if not one of those, SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN HONKY!! Much respect to the Lunas, seen them play on Maui and they good! If you dunno no talk cause foreal, you going look stupid! BTW, we going beat Kahuku!

  8. IMUA LUNAS October 23, 2017 10:26 am

Lahainaluna might have to go D1 if they keep winning. Just like Kahuku, oh wait, they lost last year to Saint Louis. Sorry bad example…

  9. Kim Chang October 23, 2017 10:35 am

Lahainaluna High School has traveled throughout the state to play in quarter-finals and semi-finals. And every year our athletes have been shown hospitality from the home team and their fans. I feel like it is time for the Lahaina community to be able to show a visiting team our hospitality, and give them a proper welcome to Da Imu.
These boys work hard throughout the season, and even during the off-season, and deserve to defend their state title and #1 seed on their own field. Give these players the respect that they have earned.

    I MUA LAHAINALUNA

  10. Elijah October 23, 2017 11:06 am

    RR4LIFE
Shut the hell up bra. If you think we should be in D1, your dead wrong. We staying in D2 for a while considering we’re a young team compared to previous years (and other). Also, don’t you try to make us go up. (We getting negative comments from all over saying we should be in D1) You hating on us is just outstanding like the others.

  11. MIL Fan October 23, 2017 11:55 am

First, the Lunas should be respected regardless of which division they are in. Second, the Lunas should move to Division I, even though Elijah has a point about staying in D2. The MIL Division II teams have not been able to challenge the Lunas on a consistent basis (e.g. except in 2015). The main point is that if the HHSAA continues to use the current tiered format in Division I (MIL, KIF, BIIF, ILH) and that the Lunas move into D1, they will challenge for the D1 title on a yearly basis.

  12. MIL Fan October 23, 2017 11:59 am

    Go Lunas Back-2-Back!

  13. HBoy October 23, 2017 12:02 pm

Good luck to all teams playing in the state tournament. We all know that it is flawed to no ones fault. It is a result of having limited number of schools, limited numbers of available athletes and a stubborn system (ILH/OIA) that continues to fight over who gets what.

In order for the state to get better we need to work together. First, extend the 8 man league to half of the schools in the state (most are in 11 man football but can barely fill their rosters or compete with bigger schools) who continue to struggle, second put the best teams in one super league-DI and let them play each other in season and then for playoffs to determine the best. (I know there are many who want the suspense of waiting till the end of the season to see certain match ups) and lastly, place the remaining teams to make up the DII.

Doing this you thin out the DI and DII teams that can’t support the numbers of level of play to choose 8 man football and it is more manageable to determine DI and DII designations. And keep state records separate for the divisions as they should be (statistics).

    In closing, GO BIG RED.

  14. MRG October 23, 2017 12:04 pm

Geeez, I wonder if the OIA had a lot of influence in the bracketing for the Open Division…LOL!!!
So is Saint Louis the #1 seed???

  15. Chee October 23, 2017 12:07 pm

Bracket is the dumbest ever. St louis gonna get beat up by second runner up then get beat up again by winner lol so sad. why isnt kamehameha here!

  16. RR4Life living the lie October 23, 2017 12:18 pm

All you Luna scrubs should just keep quiet. You know you sand bagging. Play some real schools from Oahu and see what happens. State Champs my okole. You guys are the best of the worst. Congratulations. Luna don’t deserve to be in the top 10 in the state when schools like Farrington, Leilehua, and Kapolei would smash them. The REAL champs of the state are the ones that win the Open. Everyone knows that.

    RR4Life

  17. 85Dash October 23, 2017 12:26 pm

Dang ! A lot of haters on here ! Can’t we all just..get along ?!?!

  18. King LOUie October 23, 2017 12:28 pm

Bring back the Prep Bowl, this format is rubbish.

  19. Man With a Brain October 23, 2017 12:45 pm

This format was made by the old boys network who has run the OIA since the 1970s when the ILH split up. I thought the format last year was perfect and they had to blow It up fearing that 2 ILH teams would be in the state championship game.

Kahuku and Mililani are clearly better than Kamehameha so that would not be the case this year. Instead, they make St Louis, the obvious #1 seed, play the OIA runner up and champion. The 3rd place OIA team is total garbage regardless of who wins that game.

It’s time for the old men who run the OIA to put the best interest of the kids and communities first rather than their dated, ass-backwards thinking. Are you really holding a grudge for the past 40 years?

  20. There is only one Me October 23, 2017 1:04 pm

QUESTION: If StL is the #1 rated team in the State why are they playing the OIA runner up instead of the 3rd place OIA team in he opening round? ANSWER: Because the chicken$h!t OIA cowards want to make them unfairly run the gauntlet and give their teams the best chance to win. This AFTER they only allowed the ILH one berth in tourney even though Kamehameha or Punahou is clearly better than the 3rd place scrub from the OIA. They were so scared that they actually agreed to have less of their teams play post season just to ensure the ILH wouldn’t get 2 teams in the open division. Feel sorry for the OIA teams who won’t get a chance to play more games because of the politics.

I give Iolani the nod over Lahainaluna (aka poor man’s Kahuku) because of the genius Wendell Look. Best coach in Hawaii HS FB, maybe best in the country. He’ll take REAL student athletes who are outsized and out talented on the field and beat the Luna’s recruited plugs.

    GPAs>TDs

    @Theres only 1 me:
you one ada one!! you sound like the same guy as RR4LIFE. Wendel Look is the best in The state or maybe the best in the country? LOL! ILH scrub!! You going get plenty heat for even writing that dumb comment! Silly guy!!

  23. Awrite!! October 23, 2017 1:26 pm

Hey Luna fans, I hear you loud and clear, us country towns suffer all the time to cater to the town teams and companys that put on the games they all live in honolulu so us Kahuku fans gotta travel all the time.

Also no mind the punahou alumnus posting as “RR4Life living the lie” he is a bitter person because Punahou season is over so he trying to make trouble for Kahuku, he also calls the country high school kids stupid and retarded. Boy got bad karma coming his way.

  24. ILH October 23, 2017 1:27 pm

Considering that it is on Maui, I would consider it a Home game since Iolani is travelling to get there. Also could it be because of capacity?? Maybe it will give more room for other maui schools to come and cheer on the Lunas? I dont know how big yalls stadium is.

Also, maybe you guys can try out the Div 1 for two years and see if you can compete?? Iolani did it, mad respect, and got craaaackksss for two years but it was clear that they werent Division 1 or Div 2 but a tweener group, like the Lunas (my opinion) that needs their own designation or push up the govs/hurricanes/RR/Waianae/sabers/mules to the open and put all the tweeners in Div1.

Best of luck to the Lunas.

  25. RB4L!!! October 23, 2017 1:34 pm

Why does the #1 seed in the state have to play the #3 seed in the semi finals????? So……the #2 seed gets to play Waianae or Campbell in the semis and waltz right in to the finals. Doesn’t make sense. No reward for being the top seed. Anywhere else in the world would have the #1 team playing #4 and the #2 team playing #3.

  26. WaTeRbOy October 23, 2017 1:42 pm

    RR4Life

You must be one of those fans who’s team not in the tournament. Now you stay all sour. What a plug!

Good luck to all the teams in the tournament. Should be good fun come November 18th. A full day of football.

Lunas if you win out and become back to back champs in D2, they going move you guys into D1 and then you will have to prove yourself there.

WaTeRbOy pick for final state champ games (which no mean nothing)

    Mililani VS St. Louis
    St. Francis VS Maui High
    Lahainaluna VS Konawaena

Why does everyone think Lahainaluna recruits? I have no clue? This is the same kids that come out of the Pop Warner program. They might have a couple of kids from Kahului who’s parents or grandparents that have ties with Lahainaluna but they never go to another island and recruit players like some Oahu schools that come and hand pick Maui’s talent.

Whatever the Coaches of Lahainaluna’s cards are dealt with, that’s how they will play.

  28. EMZ October 23, 2017 2:02 pm

Awrite!! Right on brotha! Its obvious that fool isn’t from Kahuku..haha yah, hope the HHSAA can see where we’re coming from. Gotta be fair.

ILH, I’m sorry but it’s not a home game, although it is on Maui..we have a stadium, a multimillion dollar stadium that can hold a capacity of 3500 people?..more than enough. Our stadium is on Max Preps top 10 stadiums to see before you die. These past few years we travelled to Kauai, Big Island, Oahu, and our stadium is cleaner, bigger and the turnout of fans is more (except Aloha Stadium). Incase HHSAA is thinking about politics/money?..it’s to be made in Lahaina, not Wailuku. Believe me, no other schools will turn out to watch Lahaina vs Iolani at War Memorial Stadium. And I believe that you will see Lahainaluna in D1. Maui don’t represent in the open division, but D1?..I can see that.

  29. Bogus screen name, to fit in October 23, 2017 2:03 pm

Waiting for next years new format to fix this years format.

Just make three divisions. If you win back to back you have to move up. If you are last back to back, you have to Move down.

Initially it might have teams in tenwrong division, but time will work that out.

  30. Good Story October 23, 2017 2:08 pm

Dude, show some respect to those regardless of Division man.

    There is only one Me
Your hatred for us is the reason why the Lunas are gonna finish strong. Keep telling yourself that. I agree with screaming LUNATIC. We don’t recruit outside of maui. We never do that. Don’t get too overconfident about your teams chances. Anything may happen.

  32. Lunamom4Life October 23, 2017 2:39 pm

All these trolls hating on the Lunas. It’s hilarious to see alumni hating on high school football…you hating on kids genius! You guys even played one single down, or just press the controls on XBOX? Relax, you not the one on the field. I guess when you so used to your school being a powerhouse, you no can handle losses.

Yeah, we going give mad props to Iolani cause they beat us TWICE in the state championship game, and now our team get something to prove. The same way they had something to prove against Kapaa last year.

We just like watch our team play one state game at our stadium. What’s the problem there?

  33. Lucas October 23, 2017 2:45 pm

    There is only one Me
Bra, do not compare us to Kahuku. We’re nowhere near as skilled like most teams but always we improved. Everyday we improve. Our boys will finish strong regardless what happened.

  34. BlameSomeoneElse October 23, 2017 2:46 pm

Here is an idea. The OIA should take the top 6 from this year and immediately declare those teams as Open Division candidates and have them ONLY play amongst each other next year. 2 rounds of competitive competition, just like the old ILH schedule before the setting of divisions. Round 1 winner vs Round 2 winner. Then the overall Open winner plays the ILH Open champion. Then the rest of the Division I teams can fight it out for a Division I spot. And the Division II teams will remain as is, unless a team petitions to move up or down.

  35. Luna October 23, 2017 3:02 pm

    Lunamom4Life
    Actually it’s 3 times: 2007, 2012, 2014. The rest: you’re right. Can’t wait to see what happens.

  36. KOH I NOR October 23, 2017 3:31 pm

St. Louis high school again. State title division I. Crusaders!

  37. Coach C October 23, 2017 3:38 pm

Said this would happen. First of all there is no seeding for a 4 team Open. If I remember last year the same thing happened. Kahuku was #1 but was scheduled to play the Kapolei/Punahou winner. #2 seed St.Louis got the Waianae/Farrington winner. Huh? Trouble was EVERYBODY thought Punahou talent laden team was going to run over Kapolei. IT WAS SET UP WHERE PUNAHOU AND ST.LOUIS would get to play KAHUKU. So this year St.Louis has a golden opportunity to beat #2 and #3 in the STATE. If they win out, they are undisputed. Their National ranking jumps 5 points. Plus Taulia might come back and play for St.L. Good move HHSAA. Both weekends will be packed. No more blow outs on both sides.

  38. Real RR4L._. October 23, 2017 3:40 pm

RR4Life is not a true RR4L. Thats the same guy posing as RR4L on different posts. I beleive it is that Education first guy. Hes trying to make Kahuku people look bad. But true Kahuku fans cheer for the other team that wears all red. In fact Lunas used to have a Kahuku grad coaching his son on the Lunas team a few years ago.

  39. Coach C October 23, 2017 3:46 pm

Poster#34 BSE. Getting the OIA into a 6 team Open, then play 2 rounds would but teams in a minimum 10 game season. Possible ties and championship game, 12 game season. While the ILH plays 8 games tops? No can. Think before posting.

  40. OIA School October 23, 2017 4:02 pm

Everyone hating on Luna just cause they winning…I’m not from Maui but Luna’s play with class and respect. Stop hating on a winning program.

  41. OGRRFL! October 23, 2017 4:25 pm

RR4LIFE ain’t from Kahuku, he’s just a scrub making trouble for Kahuku, so everyone can hate on Big Red! The Lunas do deserve to host! And those Buddha heads running the OIA are selfish and old as hell and stuck on stupid. The way they made the OIA schedule is so that the OIA CHAMPIONSHIP game means more! The winner of the OIA deserves to play OIA 3,WHY would they replay OIA CHAMPIONSHIP TWICE! !THE State seedings doesn’t matter, you cater to the bigger conference!! The OIA beats each other up in their playoffs!! These idots needs to add the number 2 ILH team! Make it a 6 team tournament again! With a true outer island champ! Or make the 3rd place OIA team play the ILH 2 for the 4third spot in the tournament! Until then ,that’s just the way it is for Now! Go Big Red!

  42. ??? October 23, 2017 4:27 pm

    @recruit dis
    You gotta be kidding!!
STL gets to legally recruit the best athletes in the state and you’re complaining about who they have to play. What a Damn Joke. LMAO

  43. "UNITY=STRENGTH" October 23, 2017 5:03 pm

Much respect to Coach Tihada and his Lunas from Lahaina they have been consistent and in the D2 playoffs year in and year out and have earned it. They also know where they are at and are keeping it real and will have another opportunity at taking the D2 Crown again this year but in there way and trying to take it away will be Iolani and Waipahu if not Konawaena got to have players and defensive ball hawks with speed and attitude playing twice as hard you guys can keep up right Stay Focused have a good game plan coming in!!! To cousin Keali’i school Aloha!!!:) Weto
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eMI70E32FA
Let D1 OIA take care of there own problems and see who can humble who this year!!!:)

  44. Recruit dis October 23, 2017 5:12 pm

?????? Stop complaining about recruiting it’s over rated. Give me some proof with some names then we can talk. Other then that it’s all accusations. Just bring back the prep bowl already and let the second and third place oia stay home where they belong.

Coach c- what you mean no blow outs. Second seed will blow out the fourth seed and mercy rule them just like in the semifinals of the oia. They shouldn’t even show up for that game because nobody wants to watch it. I’d rather watch a division 1 or 2 game because it will be more interesting.

  45. Coach C October 23, 2017 6:44 pm

Recruit dis,.Who cares about Campbell? That’s fluff game. The top three teams will play. Kahuku vs.Mililani Nov.4, St.Louis rest. Nov.10. St.Louis play loser Kahuku/Mililani.Nov.17, St.Louis play OIA champ, lol, unless St.Louis lose Nov.4. Then Kahuku Mililani again. Oh,recruit, Jordan Iosepa only played sr.year because he was recruited from OIA school. Herbig played at Kauai and only played Sr. year at St.L. before Lee only recruit 8-9 grade. Now a days, he take varsity players from public school. How that.

  46. Recruit dis October 23, 2017 7:37 pm

Coach c… you talking about two guys who graduated 2 years ago. What about now what names you got. Herbig played two seasons and his brother is currently a sophomore. You ever thought that maybe they sent there kids over here to get more exposure. So because they transfer you already assume they are recruited. What about all the transfers that go to kahuku from the mainland or even nawahine. Unless you got proof it’s all accusations. At the end of it all stop crying and making excuses and just play football. I thought football was a mans sport and not for babies.

  47. MKGA October 23, 2017 7:54 pm

Recruit dis…Nawahine literally lives in Laie. Family been there forever. Transfers from the mainland are kids coming back home, kids who played pop Warner, big boys, JV, etc then parents send them somewhere to get PT and experience or whatever personal reasons they have.

You might get two or three kids raised somewhere else who come to Kahuku to play because of family ties or tradition but 99.9% of the roster are born, and bred in the community.

BTW Nothing wrong with the ILH being loaded with kids from all over the state. That’s the way it is here in the islands and that’s the way it’ll always be. Public school education is pretty horrible so ILH programs will always be attractive.

Mililani on the other hand. Kalihi, Halawa, Foster village kids going to another public school and bringing pride and championships to another community instead of their own…no comment lol

  48. RR4LIFE living the lie October 23, 2017 7:56 pm

The only babies are the ones wearing Red. Lucas for playing in D2 and claiming to be champs and Kahuku who cries about everything. Kahuku problems is their fans where losers for so long that they think they entitled to win. These Kahuku fans on here are the ones who used to get their okoles kicked by St. Louis. Now they cry recruiting when they themselves are guilty of it. Can’t wait till they lose to Mililani and then St. Louis. Then these boards will no longer have to hear their whinning. Worst community on the island. I remember when this community had REAL pride back when the mill was running. Lots of hard workers but now it’s all football and lazy people.

    RR4Life

  49. MKGA October 23, 2017 8:07 pm

Looks like Education first is baaack…. “RR4LIFE living the lie”

  50. LAN October 23, 2017 8:07 pm

Yeah, gotta bring back the Prep Bowl, 3:00pm, Turkey Day…like the good old days…winner of OIA and winner of the ILH…Kamehameha vs Leilehua, da last turkey day game at old stadium 21-20…now that’s a championship game.
