Saint Louis receiver Matt Sykes has been named a 2020 Polynesian Bowl All Star, the game announced today.
Sykes, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior, competed in an underclassmen combine at the All-American Bowl last week in San Antonio, Texas, and was named to the All-Combine team.
He missed half of his junior year with the Crusaders due to a broken leg and was eased back into the rotation toward the end of the season, finishing with six receptions for 89 yards.
Sykes currently holds offers from Fresno State and Hawaii.
He joins Crusaders teammate Jordan Botelho, the No. 1-rated recruit from Hawaii in the junior class, as the only two players already selected to the 2020 game.
The 2019 Polynesian Bowl will take place Saturday, Jan. 19, at Aloha Stadium. Polynesian Bowl week begins with a free combine for current high school juniors and seniors who have not committed to a Division I school on Sunday at Kunuiakea Stadium on the Kamehameha-Kapalama campus.
Players will arrive in the islands and check-in on Monday to start a week full of activities that culminates in the game on Saturday night.
