Saint Louis and Punahou both won their final games in the first round of the ILH regular season to finish 5-1.

That forced a card draw to determine seedings for the second round, and Saint Louis came up with the ace. That leaves Iolani to play the Crusaders at Aloha Stadium on Oct. 14 with Punahou facing Kamehameha. The winners of those two games will play Oct. 21 for the ILH title.

If Kamehameha or Iolani can pull off a pair of upsets and win the bracket, there will be a three-team playoff (Saint Louis and Punahou are already qualified) for the ILH championship.

Damien won the card draw over St. Francis in Division II, leaving the Saints to meet Pac-Five for the right to play Damien for the ILH crown. If Pac-Five beats both teams, there will be a three-team playoff for the ILH championship.

Can someone explain to me why it makes sense for Iolani to be in this tournament with the three ILH Open teams? 0 – 6 against those guys already, and now have to play the top of the bunch. Win or lose, Raiders end up in the State D-1 Tournament. Zero incentive to play this game at all.
By the way, ever notice that the Saints don’t publish the heights and weights of their players for ScoringLive, etc.?

Exactly…that makes absolute no sense. A team that will go 0-7 in their conference will be their leagues representative in the D1 tournament. SMH

Wouldn’t Kamehameha be the ILH D1 rep?

JJ and 88. The deal was part of the HHSAA new, whatjumacallit State Championships. Iolani gets a guaranteed sweet deal. The only team in the State that gets the Golden ticket from Willy Wonka.

They should be called FREEOLANI since they get a Free ride to states!!

So Iolani gets flak from playing in D2 and dominating, they graciously agree to move up a division to D1 and now people call them freeolani? Iolani is not an open team and we all know it, so the ILH has 1 spot at D1 and IOLANI is the only school that declared for this spot.
Any of the D2 schools could have forgave their D2 status and play Iolani in a playoff but this year it did not happen. nuffsaid
