Saint Louis safety Jalen Saole had surgery Tuesday on an injured collarbone and will miss the next four weeks, according to Crusaders head coach Cal Lee.
Saole suffered the injury in last Saturday’s game at Mililani, when he intercepted a deep Dillon Gabriel pass intended for Roman Tovi. Both Saole and Tovi went tumbling after going for a high, on-target ball.
That play happened near the end of the game that was canceled after one quarter due to a power outage with Saint Louis leading 7-0.
Saole was a first-team Interscholastic League of Honolulu All-Star and a second-team Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State selection a year ago.
Saole will likely miss Saint Louis’ game at Hilo on Saturday, Aug. 20, a home scrimmage against Waipahu on Saturday, Aug. 27, and the ILH opener against ‘Iolani at Aloha Stadium on Friday, Sept. 2. He may return for the Crusaders’ game against Punahou at Aloha Stadium on Friday, Sept. 9.
