Kahuku offensive lineman Micah Soliai Howlett has been named a Polynesian Bowl All-Star.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound senior is the 16th Red Raider to be selected to the game in the four years of its existence but just the third offensive lineman from Kahuku (Vili Fisiiahi, Enokk Vimahi).
Soliai Howlett missed time last season with an injury but still managed to land on the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State third team.
He committed to Arizona State in June after receiving offers from seven different D-I schools: Arizona State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Navy, Nevada, Syracuse and UNLV.
Soliai Howlett is the eighth player currently enrolled in high school in Hawaii selected to the game, joining Saint Louis linebacker Jordan Botelho and Nick Herbig, Punahou defensive back Alaka’i Gilman and offensive lineman Solatoa Moea’i, Saint Louis receivers Roman Wilson and Matt Sykes and Kapolei defensive end Maceal Afaese.
Another player from Hawaii will be announced as a Polynesian Bowl All-Star later today.
The 2020 Polynesian Bowl will take place Saturday, Jan. 18, at Aloha Stadium featuring 100 of the best high school football players in the country. The majority of the players will be of Polynesian ancestry.
