Why is Mililani playing St. Louis and not Kahuku?
    1 against 4 and 2 against 3?
So now, Mililani is number 4?

  2. Hau’ulaBoy November 4, 2019 9:06 am

That’s true. They did that last time. When they put Punahou on the opposite side of St. Louis. Stupid. Just bring back Prep Bowl. Do away with all this BS.

  3. Hau’ulaBoy November 4, 2019 9:10 am

No more open. ILH can go back and play with themselves. Then Prep Bowl. Like good ol’ days.

  4. Hau’ulaBoy November 4, 2019 9:13 am

No more crying! No more why this team in?! No more any BS! Just come out and play! You win your league and you in period!

  5. just a witness November 4, 2019 9:39 am

too bad Punahou or second place ILH team, can’t have a play in game against the OIA #3 team, and the winner of that game to play the OIA champ, instead of only having three OIA teams.

true that though, how does Mililani end up playing ST Louis? it should be St Louis vs Campbell and Kahuku vs Mililani. After all this is the State tournament, not OIA Play-offs?

  6. Soda November 4, 2019 10:47 am

Hau’ulaBoy – Good point. No more crying about why ILH 2 didn’t make it in.

The only good out of this open division is that no body says ILH #3 could dominate in OIA… It wasnt so back then and still aint so today. Back before the open, ILH #3 fans would trash talk about how close 3 came to making a TD on 1 so, that must mean that they were way better than OIA 2, 3, etc. They at the bottom and wouldnt even have made play offs of OIAs at this point.

  7. LOu November 4, 2019 11:36 am

A 3 team league (ILH) want 2 spots in a 4 format tourney. They want a 6 team league (OIA) to also get 2 spots? NO CAN. Math no match.

  8. LOu November 4, 2019 11:47 am

But on the other side of things, Alcover needs to get in from snap 1. Mililani front 7 is one of the best, but with St.Louis, it’s the back 4 that gets burned all night. So point is, spy blitz on delaura, all night. Here’s a tip York. Sam and Deblake at backs. Put Alcover on spy. Pound ball 50%…..50 pass. Figure a wildcat play. Do it.

  9. K. Zhou November 4, 2019 12:27 pm

Its the OIA’s way of getting 2 cracks at STL. They did the same thing last year. The OIA gets 3 teams ranked lower than Punahou in the Open….only in Hawaii is this allowed and celebrated. Campbell without Titus and Atkins and Bubba would be a 500 Div 1 team. The OIA has 2 teams in the Div I even though Damien beat Moanalua in the last game of this season and Hilo is the top seed even though they played no one in the top 25 all season. Finally, the OIA gets 2 teams in Div II even though there are more teams on the outer islands that arguably had tougher schedules in Div II. All year all kine talk about the ILH recruiting but the OIA evens things out with their rigged state championships (yes the HHSAA is an arm of the DOE despite bs to the contrary). Public schools should take aim at corrupt legislature who under funds the public education system instead of placating students and their families by handing out 8th and 9th place trophies disguised as HHSAA tournament births.

  10. ILH November 4, 2019 1:13 pm

So, no more crying about recruiting then.
Or facilities, or more to offer, etc…..
It balances out, ILH only gets 1 team in, OIA gets 3.
And home field advantage during the season along with the concessions and gates.

    No. More. Crying.

Just my experience, but all the OG’s from the West Side to the North Shore that I am buddies with NEVER, EVER cry about the recruiting or perceived unfairness of it all. “Back in the day, we just lined up and played whoever lined up in front of us”. ” If one guy I was lined up against was going to college, I looked at it as an opportunity to kick his butt and embarrass him”.

I think that the players still feel the same way today, but maybe the commenters on this page never played football so dont know the feeling. IDK. Any player worth his salt never truly worried about this stuff. Well, only the weak ones probably.

The old format may not be as exciting and balanced but maybe itll satisfy those that feel the ILH has an unfair advantage.

  11. ??? November 4, 2019 2:06 pm

Let STL & Punahou play with Bosco, Gorman & Mater Dei and the OIA play each other and outer Islands for States title… No More Complaints!!!!

  12. ILH November 4, 2019 2:30 pm

Why not Iolani or Damien and Kamehameha for that matter?
They “pluck” kids out of your community too?
Or the Milvilles or Campbells that are doing the same thing?

Or is it just the schools that your TOP OIA schools cannot beat??

    State Tourney
OIA 6 Teams, but really 7 since I dont think Roughriders are going to lose.
    ILH 2 teams

7-2 only because of #sssssss not because of quality.
    Campbell for goodness sakes. Really?

Quantity over Quality (and price) should only be the rule when it comes to finding a plate lunch place.

  13. Hawaii Finest November 4, 2019 2:59 pm

so in other words kahuku people you guys want the easy way out? not playing strong teams like saint louis and punahou? thats a coward act. To me as a person and a player, you want to go against the best teams. Thats the only way you can rise to the challenges and maybe next time around you will get a better crack at the best teams. But no Kahuku people wants the easy way out because they cant beat the best. Kahuku been in and out of the state tournaments, and now that saint louis is on its way to fourpeat they all want to cry. Man up and step to the challenge instead complaining recruit recruit. Big Big babies. Kahuku people should be proud of playing saint louis and punahou because those teams are being looked at at a national level which have scouts looking at kahuku players at the same time while playing against the crusaders and puns. cmon man.

  14. Love Hawaii High School Football November 4, 2019 3:04 pm

heres a good state tournament with 6 teams.

    example this year:

Saint louis and Kahuku first round byes

    quaterfinals
    Idle Saint Louis Idle Kahuku
Kamehameha vs Mililani Campbell vs Punahou

Winner of those quarter finals moves up to play semi finals against the two bye teams, then so on. you get it. I mean , this looks like a real state championship right here. Anybody else agrees? just my thoughts.

  15. Chaching November 4, 2019 3:09 pm

    @Lou

3 teams ILH 6 Teams OIA so thats 2 to 1 ratio if you know your math. So with that said go 4 teams OIA 2 teams ILH, same thing 2 to 1 ratio. And thats your state tournament bracket. 6 teams total, 2 ILH, 4 OIA. Im good with that. thats alot better than what they have now.

  16. Michael Freitas November 4, 2019 4:00 pm

All you dumbells you have a open league so the best 6 teams gets in 1 and 2 get buys then 3 plays 6 4 plays 5 winner of the 3 and 6 plays the 2 rank 4 and 5 winner plays 1 very simple but the OiA is very crooked only for football look at the girls volleyball kamehameha played punahou for the state tournament so all you cry babies should stop with those stupid crap

  17. ??? November 4, 2019 4:15 pm

Because STL & Puns take recruiting to the extreme!
Iolani, Kam & the rest can stay in the ILH & OIA stay OIA.

  18. Polohead November 4, 2019 6:49 pm

States 2 best teams already played for the state. Punahou and St Louis-this tournament is just another repeat of regular season all won by St Louis and Punahou.
Tournament will just be a repeat of what we saw this season.

  19. DaFutbolGuy November 4, 2019 9:19 pm

Saint Louis, Punahou, Mililani all recruit. SL recruits the best at this point in time. Mill will close the gap once Cal retires, and it will all come down to coaching. Kahuku just gotta stick to one coach and develop an offensive identity. Smash ball is what they gotta do to keep up w the other3.

  20. Hau’ulaBoy November 5, 2019 1:11 am

All you St . Louis and Punahou scrubs. We should be proud to play you? You condescending little cry babies. All you ever do is rah rah blah blah blah. We the best. You guys ain’t nothing. We got all this and all that. But guess what? Kahuku still end up beating you guys. Even with all cards stacked in your favor. So yeah you on top now. But how you gonna ack when you on the bottom.

  21. Hau’ulaBoy November 5, 2019 1:28 am

We not scared. If we was, then how we beat you? We Red Raiders for Life. We don’t want to be you. You have every thing and we still beat you guys. Top dogs and still lose to a little school with no money, no coach, no offense, still only run the ball and playing JPS style offense. But guess what we still bring it.

  22. Hau’ulaBoy November 5, 2019 1:35 am

So go back to playing with yourself. ILH vs ILH. And we go back to play Castle, Leilehua and Waipahu’s. They not as talented but have ten times more Hart.

  23. K. Zhou November 5, 2019 3:59 am

Freitas is right on point and its a traditional format that can be used in all divisions (is that you Mike originally from STL then played Kalani) ? Very good LB back in the day. Anyway, its not just football, the OIA/HHSAA rigs all state championships particularly in volleyball, basketball and baseball. Every year the ILH has to beg to get 3 teams in the aforementioned sports. Look at Iolani Girls volleyball, they swept eventual state Champ Kamehameha a week before being excluded from the state tourney bogusly. ILH will be lucky to get 2 basketball teams in the state tourney despite perennially having 5 of the top 10 teams in Div 1 every year. Same with baseball and girls softball. Its rigged like ILH said: home field advantages for all public schools at all divisions, 100% of concessions and 80% of gate receipts and a plethora 19 + year olds who skirt the HHSAA participation under the No Child Left Behind Federal Counterpart.

  24. Kahuku Boy November 5, 2019 7:29 am

    @Hauula Boy
you the biggest crybaby on here and is ruining it for the rest of the kahuku community. you making them look bad. Since when you see Kahuku people crying? I believe the true kahuku people who actually played for kahuku wants to play teams like saint louis and punahou and not trying to avoid them. Step up to the competition. You one plug, one coward @hauula boy. Shame on you.

  25. ALLILH November 5, 2019 8:50 am

You guys should go back and read your posts from 3 years ago. All of you are hilarious saying the ILH is weak and they should play the big boys and not the same team blah blah blah!

Now that it happened and the results are not to your liking you guys are complaining. Just sit back and enjoy the games as all these kids no matter what school they go to put in the work!

    BBWWAAHHAAHHAAHHAA!!!

  26. ILH November 5, 2019 9:28 am

More like Victims for Life. Its just disgusting.
Woe is me, everything is stacked against us, no respect, enemy of the state crybaby action.

Honestly, your opinion really only represents a minute group in that community. Not the OG’s, thats for sure, those guys would line up against anyone, anytime and bring it.

  27. Hau’ulaBoy November 5, 2019 10:57 am

Real OGs? Ha, too funny. You ILH guys too funny. When we beat you with the bubble gum offense you cry. So boring, so blah blah. What eva. Who’s crying when you’re team no get in to tournament. No heart, all talent but no heart. Talk talk talk. That’s all? Haha haha.

  28. Hau’ulaBoy November 5, 2019 11:03 am

You guys no can handle. We under dogs. No need nothing and still make you cry. Who wants to be who? I don’t cry about recruiting because I understand that’s what private school has to do. They have no border. I don’t cry you get more money. That’s just more motivation. So keep hating. Because guess what? We love the hate!!!!

  29. Ilh November 5, 2019 12:00 pm

Kahuku always wins there division, scrub league, weak teams in there division

  30. ILH November 5, 2019 1:26 pm

    HBoy-

“You have every thing and we still beat you guys. Top dogs and still lose to a little school with no money, no coach, no offense, still only run the ball and play”.

You might not cry about recruiting, but you still crying.

There we go with the “victim” mentality. Underdogs, more money, hate, blah, blah, blah.
With the exception of Lulu you guys have the biggest, faster, stronger, athletic players across the board, in the state. How da heyo you guys underdogs??

Im beginning to think you not one OG. Just a hunch.

Oh, yeah thats not me on #29.

  31. Lou November 5, 2019 2:40 pm

All you snowflakes ILH love boys. Yada OIA cheat, yada 2 ILH and 2 OIA. Here’s a suggestion. Walk away from this corrupt set up OPEN fake league. Go and let Damien and Iolani in and have a 5 team league. I mean, Iolani and Damien could have played a better game against St.lulu then waianae and Farrington. ?? Talk about cowards.

  32. Nate Dogg November 5, 2019 3:06 pm

Yep Scrub coaching. Across the board my athlete vs your athlete, Kahuku’s got it all. They just shame because private school kids is making a.. out of them. Trying to run the ball with that little league offense, trying to push over the smaller schools but against the big dogs, speed kills big, very big slow movers, only reason why Kahuku sticks around is becuase of their natural talented athletes on defense. Put it this way, Kahuku gets by with their natural talented athletes. No coaching involved whatsoever. Pathetic offense.
Ill say it like it is, Kahuku got lucky against mililani straight up. But at the end of the day its also mililani’s fault for not busting the score wide open. I mean Kahuku couldnt do sh..

  33. MiliLouis November 5, 2019 5:37 pm

    @Hau’ulaBoy
    LMAO

  34. Hau’ulaBoy November 5, 2019 5:51 pm

Sole stop hunching over for these OGs you keep talking about. And keep barking, Dogg you just might find a real OG. Haha haha. Too funny. Rip to Nate Dogg… Talking about OGs. Sole grow up.

  35. Tupac November 5, 2019 8:05 pm

    @hauulalady
No be Jealous cuz Kahuku #2 lol wait I mean 3 possibly 4 . Keep riding from behind dogg

  36. Hau’ulaBoy November 5, 2019 9:47 pm

    @Tucup

No jealousy here. Tucup. I said it before, you guys on top right now. Enjoy the view. One cup, two cup. Down goes Tucup!!!

  37. Hau’ulaBoy November 5, 2019 9:50 pm

    Taki taki.

  38. Dafun November 6, 2019 1:31 am

I clearly remember a 28-0 halftime that made Kahuku look like garbage this year…mililani must of went downhill because how do you go from winning 39-0 to losing 7-3???

  39. ILH November 6, 2019 10:15 am

Ok, you one OG, I concede.
Sshhhhhhh, you dont want them knowing you on here talking like this.
Might have to give up that OG tough guy card.

    Back to football.

What do you think Kahuku needs to do to get the offense going?
Personnel changes? Schematic tinkering? Punt on first down and let the defense do all the scoring? (WaterBoy strategy)

  40. Hau’ulaBoy November 6, 2019 10:58 am

Haha too funny. Maybe the latter. Offense only gives up yards and bad field position.

  41. RidgeRunnerDD-214 November 9, 2019 11:39 am

Too bad things ain’t like the early prep bowl days, when schools like Radford, ‘Iolani, Kaiser and Pac-5 were legit contenders. Now it’s basically a two-horse-race no excitement, no thrill of watching schools duke it out across the island.
