No. 1 Kahuku vs. No. 2 Farrington: Updates

9:50 p.m. A late touchdown against Kahuku reserves, an 84-yard catch and run by Francis Evangelia, cuts the lead to 31-6 late in the game, and that’s the final. Talk about a lot of disappointment for Governor fans, but the season is still young. The playoffs are ahead and the Govs have room to improve.

Kahuku just looked flawless in every way.

9:06 p.m. Kawe Johnson again. Johnson’s 16-yard touchdown pass on a slick play-action by Livai had Kahuku up 24-0 with 10:32 to go. Then Kahuku drove again and scored on Liua’s second touchdown of the game. His 33-yard jaunt has Kahuku up 30-0 with 4:56 left.

Injury time out for Farrington.

8:08 p.m. Jake Samsel’s 37-yard field goal extends Kahuku’s lead to 17-0 with 4:29 left in the first half. Samsel also has two kickoffs for touchbacks. The senior transfer is a weapon. We’re at the half, 17-0. Farrington’s offense has been stagnant most of the first half, though Montana Liana made some nice throws in the second quarter and seems to have shaken off the early miscue.

Farrington has even tried Taumua at QB, which worked well for a couple of plays until he fumbled on a handoff.

7:39 p.m. Red Raiders driving again. P.J. Liua’s 21-yard blast sets up a touchdown by … P.J. Liua, an 11-yard rip up the gut, dragging a defender inside the 5. Kahuku leads 14-0 with 11:54 left in the second quarter.

7:35 p.m. Kawe Johnson’s 7-yard pick-6 off a Montana Liana pass had Kahuku up 7-0 with 6:15 left in the first quarter.
