When Kamehameha opened its Maui campus, the varsity football program had all kinds of possibilities.
One big obstacle: the tradition and success of Lahainaluna. In the 13 seasons since KS-Maui began varsity play, Lahainaluna has dominated the series 25-1. The Warriors’ lone victory came early in the 2015 season.
The two teams will meet Friday at the Warriors’ home field in Pukalani, where KS-Maui (3-2, 2-1 MIL) has never beaten the reigning Division II state champion Lunas (4-1, 3-0).
