Game over.

Saint Louis has a nice drive going toward the end of the game but the feed again is down. Crusaders do score a TD.

Apduhan rips off a 24-yard run. Backups are in and Yosei Takhashi with a catch and run of 28 yards to the Gaels 10. Crusaders can’t get it in and turn it over on downs.

Saint Louis brings in sophomore Oha Kamakawiwaole but goes three-and-out. The punt snap is way over the head of the punter and it’s recovered by Bishop Gorman in the end zone for a touchdown.

———-

Gaels ball and on second down, looked like linebacker Dennis Tadio shot through and gets a strip-sack of Alejado but the Gaels recover the fumble. Gaels punt.

Gaels drive deep into Saint Louis territory but the quarterback fumbles on a play from the 2 and Saint Louis recovers on its 7. Nicholas Delgadillo gets his first catch for 7 yards but the Crusaders will punt. Three-and-out.

Crusaders start on their 31. Third down and Bianco has a pass bounce off a defender’s hands into the arms of Kekauhuna for 13 yards and a first down. Mason Muaau gets his first varsity catch for 14 yards and Apduhan gets a yard on third-and-1 to move the chains. Bianco scrambles and has an open receiver out to the right but just led him too much. He’s been on the run all day. Fourth-and-10 and he throws short and it’s incomplete anyway. Turnover on downs.

Gaels will get the ball first. Freshman Decon Rice has a 74-yard kick return called back by penalty. Gaels ball on the 31. Barfield loses 2 on the first carry as the Crusaders’ DL just buried him for a loss. After an injury timeout, Alejado hits Zachariah Branch for 37 yards and then Barfield with a 20-yard run for TD No. 5. 35-14 Gaels.
———-

Crusaders will get one more chance in the first half with 1:15 to go. They simply haven’t been able to block the Gaels. Crusaders seem content to run it out after two rushing attempts. HALFTIME

Alejado hits Zachariah Branch for a 28-yard pass and then Barfield does the rest, getting his fourth TD of the half on a 1-yard run.

Bianco is rushed twice by an unblocked blitzer but then steps in on a third down and hits a strike to Kekauhuna for a huge gain, but there’s a holding penalty. It’s still a 20-yard gain and a first down. Kekauhuna with a 30-yard grab again over the middle down to the 30. Crusaders can get guys open all day against the BG back 7 but the Gaels are blitzing hard every play trying to get to the QB first. Third down coming up. Crusaders will go for it fourth-and-15 at the BG 35. Bianco sacked for a loss of 10. Turnover on downs.

BG ball on its 32. After a nice breakup by a Crusaders safety, the Gaels work a couple of inside shovel passes to get a first down. Gaels call another timeout after Barfield is dropped for a 4-yard loss. After a couple of big runs, Barfield has his third TD of the game on a 3-yard jaunt to put the Gaels back in front 21-14.

Bianco sacked on the Crusaders’ first play of the next drive but then hits Jaysen de Laura for an 18-yard reception. Bianco has a ball underthrown picked off but a defensive pass interference call saves it from being a turnover. That puts the ball on the BG 47. De Laura again open over the middle and has a 28-yard reception called back by a block in the back. De Laura again open for a 31-yard reception down to the 3 and the Gaels call timeout as Saint Louis has found its play to call. Ola Apduhan with a 3-yard TD run. We’re tied 14-14.

BG will start on its 43 and this stream is leaving a lot to be desired. Cam Barfield rips off a 57-yard TD run on the first play and the Gaels take the lead.

Third-and-7 and Tauefa has the ball hit him on the hands but can’t bring it in. Saint Louis will punt.

———-

(:21) Apduhan with a 2-yard run to the 19 and the first quarter is over.

Gorman has the ball on the Saint Louis 19. Barfield with a 15-yard carry to the 4 and then runs it down to the 1. Second-and-goal from the 1. Touchdown Gorman. Barfield 1-yard TD run. XP is good. 23 seconds left in the first quarter.

No stream but AJ Bianco scrambled for an 18-yard TD to put Saint Louis ahead 7-0.

(7:21) Crusaders will start their second drive on their 38. Bianco again with no time to throw and is tackled for no gain after getting back to the line of scrimmage. Third-and-10 and Bianco scrambles up the middle right at the marker. They say short. Fourth-and-1. Bianco sneaks it for 3 yards and a first down right at midfield. First penalty is a false start but then Bianco completes his first pass to Devon Tauefa who shakes a defender and picks up 17 yards. Trech Kekauhuna with a 10-yard reception on third-and-4 to the 22. And it looks like the stream has gone down. Sorry, guys.

(9:46) Gaels will start on their 17 after a 63-yard punt. They start a freshman, Micah Alejado at QB. Cam Barfield rips off a 12-yard run on the first play. First third down for Gaels is a third-and-5. Josh Sagapolutele with the tackle after Alejado scrambles out of a sack attempt. Gaels will punt.

(12:00) Crusaders will start with the ball first on their 20. AJ Bianco at QB for the Crusaders. Ola Apduhan is the running back. Gaels dominate the first three plays on the defensive line and force a punt. Bianco had no time to throw on either pass attempt.

Either this is the worst O Line the Crusaders have had in years or Bishop’s entire D line is going g to the NFL.

  2. Vincent McKelvey August 20, 2021 11:10 pm

St Louis should bring back Jim Nicholson on defensive line

    @#1
Coach Lee & their O-Line coach said this is their best O-Line they had in years?
Maybe in Hawai’i but when you play other mainland teams that also recruit & has size, speed & numbers, it comes down to execution.
STL is 0-2 in their last 2 Vegas games.
Just waiting for Dennis excuse this time? Coach Lee already said their underclassmen hasn’t played much & they didn’t have much film on Bishop Gorman.

  4. CrusaderDad August 22, 2021 10:55 pm

@??? Yes we didn’t execute…but I guarantee we will improve from this. And our opponents have to deal with it…I just hope the Public schools get their act together so we can have more opponents. And funny you bring up excuses, cause you sure are full of them..

The crusaders will only get better from playing a top quality team like Gorman. Kahuku needs to get their act together cause we are WAAAAYYYY behind.

  6. ILoveHawaii August 23, 2021 9:50 am

This was a clear case of being out-recruited.

    Mo bettah bullets.

  7. ??? August 24, 2021 11:54 am

    @4&5
STL will only get better? “DUH”
STL can practice for only a week & beat 98% of Hawai’i teams. So would IMG, Bosco, MaterDei & Gorman, ALL teams that recruit the best players!
Coach Lee & O-line coach said o-line might be best ever!
But they still go out & steal Farrington’s best O-lineman? ”Ai Suuus”
@ STL Football is win at all costs school, so yes, there is a 99% chance you will be state champs.
    The whole state knows it!!

@??? So did Poncho say he got “recruited”…just curious – maybe we’ll ask him at practice.. lol My question to ???. If I asked you to pay $4-5K (on the low side) more for something you get for free…why would you go?
