Kobayashi, Vartic lead islanders at 7v7

Of the many football players who trekked to Las Vegas for the Pylon 7v7 Championships over the weekend, a few stood out.

Saint Louis wide receiver Drew Kobayashi was selected to the all-tournament third team. 247sports.com reported on the event and praised Kobayashi, currently a junior.

With only four offers to date, clearly the only thing holding Kobayashi back from more big offers is his location in Hawaii. The big receiver has tested extremely well athletically, he’s a sound pass catcher, runs good routes. He’s just a complete do-it-all target.

Konawaena defensive back Luca Vartic was also named to the all-tournament third team.

Vartic was one of the emerging stars of the weekend. With a safety’s frame, the Hawaii native has cornerback feet and he has good testing numbers. Cal could be the team to beat when they offer but he looked like a no doubt high level BCS prospect on Sunday.

Also noted was Saint Louis quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, an honorable mention selection.
