Kamehameha defensive lineman Kupono Blake has been selected to the 2019 Polynesian Bowl.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Air Force commit has had a breakout season as a senior, putting himself in the mix for the state’s defensive player of the year award given out by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser in December.
He finished the season with four sacks in his final three games, including two in a playoff loss to Punahou.
Blake is the third Polynesian Bowl All Star from Kamehameha, joining linebacker Hoku Arias and offensive lineman Lokahi Pauole.
The third annual Polynesian Bowl high school football all-star game will take place on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Aloha Stadium. For an updated list of players selected, click here.
Another selection will be announced later today on Hawaii Prep World.
Congratulations to Kupono and his family, for both his selection to the Polynesian Bowl All Star squad and for his scholarship to The Air Force Academy. We look forward to seeing our talented nephew play here on the Mainland. – The Michel ohana.
