Kamehameha will host Carson High from Carson, Calif., for a football game on Aug. 25, Warriors head coach Abu Maafala confirmed today.

The Warriors are one of at least seven Hawaii teams that will play mainland squads this fall. The others are Saint Louis, Punahou, Mililani, Kahuku, Kalani and Baldwin.

Kamehameha went 3-6 a year ago in Maafala’s first year at the helm. Carson finished 4-6, losing to Palisades (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) 41-0 in the Los Angeles City Section playoffs.

In a regular-season game last year, Carson lost 59-0 to Narbonne (Los Angeles) — a team that will visit Oahu to play Saint Louis for a game this fall.

Hawaii Prep World also learned that Baldwin will host the Mission Viejo Diablos (Mission Viejo, Calif.) at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku on Aug. 19, and that Kalani will visit Tacoma, Wash., to play Mount Tahoma on Sept. 9.

The Diablos went 11-1 in 2016 and had a 39-game winning streak snapped in a 42-26 loss to Rancho Cucamonga (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) in the California Interscholastic Federation South Section Division I quarterfinals. At the time, Mission Viejo was ranked No. 5 in California and Rancho Cucamonga was No. 4.

In recent years, Baldwin lost to Mission Viejo twice at War Memorial Stadium — 49-20 in 2013 and 63-7 in 2015.

In 2015, Radford visited Mount Tahoma and beat the Thunderbirds 74-6 before going on to win Hawaii’s Division II state tournament.

In 2016, Baldwin went 8-3, Kalani finished 4-3, and Mount Tahoma compiled a 3-7 mark.
