By virtue of its 42-7 Big Island Interscholastic Federation victory over Waiakea on Friday at Wong Stadium, Hilo clinched a berth in the Division I state tournament.
The Vikings (5-1, 5-0) also gained a spot into the BIIF D-I title game, which will be held the weekend of Oct. 21-22. The opponent for that game will be determined between Kealakehe, Waiakea and Keaau (all 2-3 in BIIF D-I).
One of those teams — when it earns the second BIIF D-I title-game beth — will also qualify for the D-I states.
In addition, with wins last weekend, Konawaena (5-1, 4-1) and Kamehameha-Hawaii (6-1, 4-1) secured spots in the the BIIF D-II championship game, which will also be held the weekend of Oct. 21-22.
Konawaena visited Honokaa and scored a 49-7 win on Friday. Kamehameha-Hawaii went to Hawaii Prep and beat Ka Makani 27-13 on Saturday.
The winner of the BIIF D-II title game will get the league’s lone spot into the D-II states.
