Mike Bellotti, who has won more games than any other head coach at the University of Oregon, and former Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn will serve in the same positions for the 2019 Polynesian Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Aloha Stadium.
Bellotti, who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014, will coach Team Makai.
“The Polynesian Bowl has become one of the premier high school all-star games in the nation overnight,” Bellotti said in a press release. “I’m excited to be part of this special celebration of football and culture.”
Zorn, who is one of 11 players selected to the Seattle Seahawks’ Ring of Honor, will coach Team Mauka.
“It’s going to be an incredible experience to coach the nation’s top players in paradise,” added Zorn. “It
doesn’t get much better than football in Hawaii.”
The high school football all-star game will be broadcast live on the mainland on CBS Sports Network.
Saint Louis defensive lineman Faatui Tuitele, Kahuku offensive lineman Enokk Vimahi, Punahou linebacker Maninoa Tufono, Kaimuki defensive lineman Sama Pa’ama, Punahou offensive lineman Duke Clemens and Kapolei offensive lineman Julius Buelow have already committed to the game from Hawaii.
More than 20 more players from Hawaii will be selected over the course of the prep football season starting in August. Weekly announcements will be made on Hawaii Prep World.
Congratulations to all who is involved 🤙🏽
