Here we go. Afe with a BULLET over the middle to Kalani for 18 yards. Now a pass to Millare for 9 yards and a personal foul on Carson moves it to the 20. Third-and-3 at the Carson 13 after a 7-yard pass to Millare. Slant to Kalani is a bit high and it’s fourth down. Throw to the end zone to Kalani is batted away by New Zealand Williams. There’s a flag on the field however. PERSONAL FOUL. First down Farrington. First-and-goal at the 7. 1:44 to go. Millare tackled for a loss of 3 but another flag on the field. Farrington with the handoff to Kalani and Afe goes out to catch a pass but Carson has it well covered. Incomplete on the slant and it’s third down. 1:01 on the clock. Incomplete pass sets up fourth down from the 12. Pass is high and incomplete and Carson is going to get its first win of the season.

Carson ball on the Govs’ 39. 3:18 on the clock. Farrington gets the stop and should get the ball back with one timeout left. Carson decides to go for it and throws it deep. Incomplete. Govs will take over on their 38.

A holding penalty pushes Farrington back to its 2 and it’s third-and-16. Tough spot here. Incomplete. Farrington has all three of its timeouts and will punt.

Pooch kick and Carson recovers it off the kickoff in Farrington territory. Second time tonight. DL Caleb Matagi with a big TFL for the Govs to set up third-and-long. Carson will punt with 4:40 to go.

Colts ball on their own 46 with 6:27 left down by three. Three passes, three receptions, touchdown. Ale to Lee out of the backfield for 17, a slant to Sanchez for 16 and then a ball up top to Sanchez for a 21-yard TD. Carson ahead 24-20 with 5:39 left.

Farrington recovers its own fumble on a punt but will be backed up big time. Millare with three nice runs totaling 21 yards but is shaken up at the end of his third run. He goes out and the Govs’ drive stall. They will punt it away into the wind with less than 7 minutes to go.

Govs force a punt.

DL Bryson Alualu shaken up on a play for the Govs. DL Peter Nethon with a TFL for Farrington. Carson ends the third with a 12-yard pass to pick up a first down on third-and-11.

Millare with a 17-yard reception on the next Govs’ drive but Aupiu with a TFL to set up third-and-long and the Govs will punt.

This has turned into a flag fest. Three pass interference calls (one offensive) on this next Carson drive. NO. They don’t call a push off on the TD and Demoni Sanchez gets credit for a 4-yard TD reception. 20-17 Carson, 6:02. That was, uhhh, interesting.

Farrington converts a third-and-22 with a 27-yard pass from Afe to Kalani. Avirex Aupiu blasts Afe on the QB run and forces a fumble and Carson recovers in Farrington territory.

Govs will receive. Treshawn Kepa with the SPEED and he’s GONE. A 91-yard kickoff return for a TD but NO! It’s called back by a penalty.

Govs with a sack and it’s a fumble. TJ Paleafei recovers on the Carson 13 with under a minute to go. Millare with two runs to the 2 and Farrington calls timeout with 24 seconds remaining. Chris Afe with the 2-yard TD run with 18 seconds to go. 20-10, :18, Q2.

Afe is picked off by Judah Fosia throwing it deep with a minute to go. Carson ball.

Govs are whistled for roughing the kicker and give up a first down when they should have gotten the ball back. Ale makes them pay two plays later with a 34-yard TD pass to Makoa Tuisalo’o. 14-10, 2:17, Q2.

Govs force a three-and-out but are pinned back on the punt. Farrington goes three-and-out and punt for the first time.

Farrington will have a third-and-2 at the Carson 31 to start the second quarter. Afe gets 2 and a first down. A penalty moves the ball to the 15. Farrington fumbles but Kalani jumps on it to save the day for the Govs and Millare with his second 4-yard TD run of the game. 14-3 Govs, 9:26, Q2.

Tymon Paleafei with a big hit to force a fumble for Farrington. Bryson Alualu returns it 49 yards for a TD but it’s called back by a penalty. Still Govs take over.

Chris Afe with the start at QB. After a short run, a screen to Selau Kalani goes for 63 yards to the 4. Raymond Millare with a 4-yard TD run and the Govs score in three plays. 7-3 Govs. 3:26, Q1

Carson with a surprise onsides kick and the Colts recover it. A big pass to Demoni Sanchez goes for 26 yards but the Govs force a turnover on downs.

Carson will receive. A freshman at QB for the Colts, Uiolevanuseaulaoleolo Ale. Inside shovel pass goes for 35 yards and then two runs by Devonte Lee go for 16 yards. Junior linebacker Calijah Mareko with a TFL for the Govs. Drive stalls out and Javier Becerra boots a 38-yard field goal. 3-0 Carson, 9:14.


The Govs play their first game on the mainland since 1979 against the Colts, who lost to Kamehameha at home two weeks ago.
