GAME NIGHT 9/29: Farrington/Waianae

9:43: Game over. Last gasp pass falls incomplete.

9:42: Millare gets open and the ball sails out of his hands with 9 seconds left. Could have been a touchdown.


9:41: EJ Liua catches a 10-yard pass for a first down.

9:40: Fourth and 10. 30 seconds to go. 9:37: It’s third down and 10 from the Farrington 30 for the Govs. 0:37 to go in game.

9:34: Seariders are punting from their own 23 with 1:40 to go. Zefften Thompson -Avilla unleashes a 62-yarder to the Farrington 15.

9:32: Waianae has a third down and 11 from its 24. Farrington calls timeout. 1:48 left in game.

9:28: After a 15-yard Waianae penalty, Afe-Alaivanu finds Raymond Millare open in the near right corner of the end zone for a 34-yard touchdown. Afe-Alaivanu’s conversion pass falls incomplete. WAIANAE 28, FARRINGTON 25, 2:37 left in game.

9:26: Levi Hau-Kautai sacks Joseph (who lined up at QB) for a 6-yard loss. Farrington ball at the Seariders’ 48

9:24: Seariders get a first down, but now face a fourth and 1 form the Farrington 46.

9:19: Afe-Alaivanu throws three incomplete passes. Govs punt.

9:15: The Seariders go three and out and punt.

9:11: Farrington gets a first down, but can’t get another and punts.

9:05: Fesili-Ripley intercepts a Lopes pass in the Farrington end zone and returns it 41 yards. A 15-yard personal foul penalty brings the ball back to the Farrington 26.

9:02: Third quarter ends.

9:01: Xaiston Kamehaloha recovers a Farrington fumble. Seariders ball at the Govs. 28.

8:57: On the next play, Lopes tosses a short pass to a wide-open Lui and it turns into a 17-yard touchdown. Joseph kicks the extra point. WAIANAE 28, FARRINGTON 19, 0:29 left in third quarter.

8:56: The Seariders have a third down and 4 from the Farrington 17. 0:37 left in third quarter.

8:55: Lujan muscles for 5 yards and a Waianae first down.

8:52: After another first down by the Govs, Afe-Alaivanu fumbles a snap and Kalena Sione recovers for the Seariders. Waianae ball at the Farrington 45.

8:47: Farrington goes three and out, but a roughing the kicker penalty gives the Govs a first down at their 40.

8:42: Joseph follows a wall of blockers up the middle and breaks off to the right for a 35-yard touchdown. A high snap winds up as a failed conversion. WAIANAE 21, FARRINGTON 19, 7:21 left in third quarter.

8:41: Waianae’s Lui rambles off right tackle for a 41-yard gain to the Farrington 35.

8:35: Farrington kicks off, but the ball bounces off a Waianae player and into the hands of a Farrington player. A Tanuvasa 34-yard gain sets up an eventual 10-yard TD run by Tanuvasa. Cabuco kicks the extra point. FARRINGTON 19, WAIANAE 15, 8:24 left in third quarter.

8:07: Halftime.

8:06: After a Waianae punt, Farrington gets the ball back, but on the last play of the first half, Afe-Alaivanu is sacked by Selu Cook.


8:01: On fourth and 12 from the Waianae 38, Afe-Alaivanu is flushed from the pocket and takes off. The 6-foot-1, 278-pound Afe-Alaivanu gains six yards until he is stood up by the 5-10, 195-pound Fano. Waianae ball.

7:53: Three plays later, Lopes sneaks in for a 1-yard touchdown. Joseph kicks the extra point. WAIANAE 15, FARRINGTON 12, 4:11 left in first half.

7:45: Diesel Tuinei’s 24-yard reception on pass from Lopes moves the ball to the 19.

7:43: Joseph’s 24-yard kick return gives Waianae the ball on the Farrington 40.

7:40: The Govs go three and out. The punt team comes on, but the snap to punter Demetry Shoaf goes over his head and over the back line for a Waianae safety. FARRINGTON 12, WAIANAE 8, 7:51 left in first half.

7:38: Lopes fades to his right, but is chased by a bunch of Govs tacklers and throws an incomplete pass. Seariders lose the ball on downs. Farrington takes over at the 10.

7:36: Waianae has a fourth down and 1 at the 10. Farrington calls timeout.

7:35: Eteuati Lui runs up the middle 15 yards to the Govs’ 19.

7:33: Waianae’s Raven Keopuhiwa recovers a Farrington fumble at the Govs’ 34.

7:26: First quarter ends.

7:25: The Seariders go three and out and punt.

7:23: Farrington tries an onside kick, but Waianae recovers at its 45.

7:20: On first down, Farrington’s Selau Kalani goes around left end for an 11-yard TD. The conversion pass by Afe-Alaivanu falls incomplete. FARRINGTON 12, WAIANAE 6, 4:01 left in first quarter.

7:17: The Govs go three and out again and punt. The bounding ball hits the face-mask of Joseph, the punt returner and lands on the ground. Farrington’s Treshawn Kepa recovers at the Waianae 11.

7:13: On first down, Waianae’s Elijah Lujan runs in from 8 yards out. Joseph misses the extra-point kick. FARRINGTON 6, WAIANAE 6, 5:57 left in first quarter.

7:12: A Lopes pass to Adonnis Puou goes for 18 yards to the Farrington 8.

7:10: Shaydon Lopes now in at QB for the Seariders. He throws a 9-yard pass to Kenneth Joseph Jr. for a first down.

7:09: Govs go three and out and punt. Waianae ball at the Farrington 44.

7:06: Farrington’s Ezekiel Fesili-Ripley intercepts a pass Waianae quarterback Kevin Poepoe’s on the Seariders’ first play from scrimmage. Govs ball at their 10.

7:01: On a third and 1 play, Samsen Tanuvasa finds a hole in the middle of the line and goes 71 yards for a Farrington touchdown. Andre Elijah Juan Cabuco’s extra point is blocked by Waianae’s Paul Fan. FARRINGTON 6, WAIANAE 0, 10:30 left in first quarter.

6:59: Chris Afe-Alaivanu is in at QB for the Govs.

6:56: Waianae won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. Farrington chose to receive. Waianae will defend the west end zone.

6:54: The official timekeeper is Missy Holloway, who is UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway‘s mom.

6:53: We are a few minutes away from kickoff. Waianae is singing its alma mater. Captains will go to the field soon.

    What is it going to take for Waianae to make it to the OIA playoffs as a #4 seed? This is probaly the most dreadful Waianae football season ever.
