9:12: The Tigers punt and the Wolfpack take over from the McKinley 45 with 4:01 left. You’d have to think they’ll milk the clock here.

9:04: Ulufale takes a handoff 10 yards for a touchdown. He now has one receiving and one rushing touchdown for the day. Fukuroda misses the PAT. Pac-Five now leads 27-7 with 6:52 left.

8:54: The Wolfpack take over with 11:45 left at the McKinley 45 after an absolute shank of a punt. With the way this half is going, let’s see if they milk the clock or keep their foot on the gas.

8:51: Ahina appears to pick up a first down with his legs, but it’s nullified by a holding call. he then goes down to the sideline where he’s down with what looks like a cramp. Tigers are facing third-and-36 to start the fourth quarter.

8:44: Another turnover for the Wolfpack, this time a fumble, which gives the Tigers the ball back on their own 40. 3:29 left in the third, still 21-7.

8:42: Facing third-and-7 on their own 46, the Wolfpack call a timeout to avoid a delay of game penalty. 4:06 left to go in the third.

8:38: Tigers go for it on fourth-and-17 but to no avail. Wolfpack take over on their on 26 with 6:17 to go in the third.

8:35: McKinley calls time after a fumble nearly costs them their drive. They’re now backed at the Pac-Five 31 after that, 7:18 left in the third.

8:33: Fukuroda is picked off yet again, this time by Ahina, who doubles up in the secondary for the Tigers. McKinley now in the red zone on the P5 19.

8:31: Not much going for the Tigers on that drive besides a near-interception for Ahina. Pac-Five takes over on its own 19 after a punt.

8:25: Fukuroda is picked off by Emilio Paul and the Tigers will take over on their own 36 with 10:29 to go in the third.

8:22: Pac-Five begins the second half with the ball on their own 34.

8:07: Understandably, that was a long half. It seemed that the Tigers benefitted more from the break after cutting into the lead. The Wolfpack will receive to start the second half, though, so let’s see if they can break it open.

8:05: The Wolfpack can’t get a drive going after a couple of penalties and now we’re at the half.

7:55: Another three and out for the Tigers. Pac-Five taking over from their own 47 with 3:08 to go in the half.

7:36: Wolfpack are driving, they’re now on the Pac-Five 12 after a 20-yard keeper by Fukuroda.

7:29: And we’re back. The first play for the Tigers is a 62-yard bomb from Siolei Lopes-Liutoloto to Kaiwi Ahina. The duo then switch roles as Ahina fires a 6-yard pass to Lopes-Liutolo for a touchdown. Hieu Huyhn‘s extra point is good. Tigers cut the Pac-Five lead in half and trail 14-7 with 15 seconds to go in the first quarter.

7:23: Bertelmann was placed safely into the ambulance van minutes ago, and they are leaving the field now.

7:13: The ambulance has arrived. Both teams are starting to stretch and warm up again. Bertelmann has been placed on a stretcher.

7:04: Bertelmann is still on the ground, surrounded by trainers and what looks like family and friends. The Pac-Five coaches in the booth to the right of me have told me that Bertelmann broke his right leg. They’ve said that they’ll miss him as a two-way player and that he plays baseball for Mid-Pacific as well. Right now the delay seems to be due to the fact that the ambulance has yet to arrive. I’ve heard that there are none available at the moment.

6:47: We’re still in a stoppage here as staff members are continuing to work on Bertelmann. The crowd is silent, but everyone in here seems to agree that safety comes first.

6:37: Scary moment here for the Wolfpack defense. Makana Bertelmann appears to have fractured his leg after one of his teammates crashed into him from behind. It does not look good. He is clearly in visible pain and a handful of Pac-Five staff are tending to him. Both teams are taking a knee.

6:31: Tigers will take over from their own 26.

6:30: Gonsales takes a handoff and he’s GONE for an 81-yard touchdown. Fukuroda’s PAT is good. 14-0 Wolfpack, 1:54 left in the first.

6:18: McKinley will take over on its own 39.

6:16: The Wolfpack drive drive down the field with ease, capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by Nathan Bek, who had three carries for 16 yards on that drive. Fukuroda’s PAT is good, P5 leads 7-0 with 6:33 to go here in the first.

6:10: Three and out for the McKinley offense after a pair of runs for no gain by Jonah Stephens and an incomplete pass. Wolfpack will take over at the McKinley 39 after a nice punt return by Kaikea Gonsales. 10:21 left in the first.

6:07: Tyler Fukuroda‘s kickoff is caught for a fair catch at the McKinley 35. Here come the Tigers.

6:05: Pac-Five wins the coin toss and elects to defer to the second half.

5:45 p.m.: We’re around 15 minutes from kickoff. Both teams are on the field warming up here at the stunning and brand new Skippa Diaz stadium with Diamond Head as a backdrop. McKinley is dressed in gold helmets, black jerseys and charcoal pants, while Pac-Five is in white from head to toe.
