9:49: Castle’s Kela Harbottle intercepts Kayson Castillo. The Knights take one last knee for their first win of the season. 26-16 is your final.
9:44: Castle goes three-and-out but forces Aiea to call its last timeout. Na Alii has 1:46 to make up the deficit, starting from their own 27.
9:39: Aiea elects to punt on fourth down deep in its own territory. The wind gets a hold of the punt, and it’s downed at the Aiea 43 with 3:25 to go. Castle can run out the clock for its first win of 2019.
9:35: TOUCHDOWN CASTLE. The Knights make the bold call of going for it on fourth-and-goal from the Aiea 14 and it pays off as Kaio and Kala Matthews connect for a 14-yard score. Costa’s PAT is good and the Knights lead 26-16 with 4:56 left.
9:32: Castle faces third-and-goal at the Aiea 15, but there’s another injury timeout for a player on the Na Alii defense.
9:24: WOW. Just like the opening kickoff, Costa skies a kickoff that nobody on Aiea covers for, and Knights recover the ball at the Aiea 27 with 7:50 left.
9:23: Tom takes a direct snap for a 3-yard touchdown, giving Castle back the lead. Costa’s PAT is good and the Knights lead 19-16 with 7:50 left.
9:13: Aiea goes three-and-out and punts. Castle will get the ball back at its own 32 with 9:42 left.
9:09: A somber scene as Suka is taken in by an ambulance. Aiea’s whole team is near the vehicle that will take him to the hospital. Both teams are set to resume play now.
8:49: Kaio is picked off by Grant Suka to the Castle 45, but Suka is down. From up here, it looks like a Castle player dove for his knees. Suka takes off his helmet as he winces in pain. It doesn’t look good.
8:46: The third quarter ends with Aiea leading 16-12, but Castle has a fresh set of downs at the Aiea 40 in a tight one.
8:40: TOUCHDOWN AIEA. Miller takes one 36 yards to the house for his second rushing score of the day. He’s now up to 126 yards on 18 carries and two scores. Na Alii goes for two but muffs the snap. The lead is 16-12 with 1:41 left in the third.
8:29: Castle is back in the lead after Chazz Tom‘s two yard touchdown rush. The PAT is blocked and Castle’s lead is 12-10 with 6:00 left in the third.
8:23: FUMBLE AIEA. Castle recovers on its own 49.
8:20: Kaio is INTERCEPTED by Dylan Soberano, Aiea ball on its own 30.
8:16: Aiea goes three-and-out as well. Castle gets the ball back on its own 26 with 9:20 left in the third, defensive struggle brewing here in Kaneohe.
8:13: Castle goes three-and-out, as Aiea gets the ball back on its own 40 with 11:08 left in the third quarter after the punt.
7:52: Castle tries to get something going but runs out the clock instead after some penalties. Aiea leads 10-6 at the half, but Castle will receive the second half kickoff.
7:48: Miller takes a direct snap and FUMBLES, recovered by Castle’s Matt Sene on the Knights’ 35 with 1:15 left in the half.
7:39: Kaio and Igafo connect for a 40-yard gain but its FUMBLED at the Aiea 14, which Na Alii recover with 4:35 left in the half. Huge momentum swing if they can capitalize.
7:36: Aiea drives down the field, capped by Javon Miller‘s 24-yard rushing TOUCHDOWN. Mane’s kick is good and Aiea takes its first lead of the game, up 10-6 with 5:08 left in the first half.
7:27: The Castle defense holds strong, forcing another three-and-out. The Knights get a chance to add to their lead, starting from their own 45 with 9:34 left in the second quarter.
7:23: Castle leads 6-3 at the end of the first quarter, but faces fourth down in their own territory to start the second and will most likely punt.
7:18: Tyla Mane‘s 39-yard field goal attempt for Aiea is GOOD. Castle still leads 6-3 with 1:27 left in the first.
7:12: Quick three-and-out for Castle, including a deep throw that was dropped. Aiea gets the ball back at midfield with 6:21 left in the first.
7:09: Aiea picks up a couple of nice first downs but has to punt after facing fourth-and-23 in Castle territory. The Knights get the ball back on their own 20 with 7:12 left in the first.
7:00: WHOA. Nakoa Gaspar-Takahashi recovers a high kickoff from Cheydon Costa at the Aiea 14. On the first play, Kila Kaio rolls to his right and finds AJ Igafo for a TOUCHDOWN. What a start for the home team. The PAT is no good however, but Castle leads 6-0 with 11:53 left in the first.
6:58: Aiea wins the toss and will receive.
6:25 p.m.: Aiea wins the JV game 41-0. Kickoff will be delayed for around a 7 p.m. start time for the varsity game.
