The semifinals in the Open Division and Division I of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships on Friday night had little drama.

All four games were decided by 16 points.

Saturday it’s Division II’s turn to possibly generate some excitement with two semifinal games. The first takes place at Vidinha Stadium as KIF champion Kapaa hosts ILH champion Damien.

Kapaa is attempting to reach the Division II state final for the second straight year while Damien hasn’t gotten there since losing to Aiea in the 2003 title game.

HISTORY: This is the first meeting between the two schools since the Monarchs defeated Kapaa 36-0 at Isenberg Field in September 1967.

This was the most poorly officiated game I have ever witnessed. How can you allow someone to be a referee for a game that his son and two nephews are participating. I think there was a serious conflict of interest.
